Yogis Of Free People

Before I started working at Free People, yoga was never really on my radar.

I had tried it a few times, but kind of dismissed it due to my lack of flexibility as compared to everyone else that surrounded me. I’ve since learned that something as silly as lack of flexibility should never deter you from getting into yoga. Here at Free People, we’re surrounded with so many incredible ladies who live and breathe this practice. Over my time here, I’m happy to say I’ve come to realize the importance — the incredibly spiritual and deeply healing properties — that yoga holds.

I know that many of you hold this practice near and dear to your hearts as well, and I have a feeling that there are some of you who have an interest in yoga, but haven’t yet made the decision to bring it into your life. Whether you do yoga or not, I thought it’d be cool to share a little snapshot of some of the beautiful yogis who grace our office every day.

This is definitely inspiring. I’ve never tried yoga because of the same fears.. I’m not flexible and I’m certainly not a graceful/balanced person. But, these stories are great… thinking I should actually give it a try! :)

Something I love about yoga is that everyone can do it and it isn’t competitive. I’ve gotten to really cherish my nightly twilight yoga session.

Beautiful! I really love the way yoga makes my body feel – I’d love to get to the point where I’m doing it daily rather than weekly, thank you for sharing this!

While I appreciate seeing these beautiful poses, I feel that taking so many pictures of a supposedly quite and meditative activity is a bit contradictive. Yoga encourages detachment from the self and worldly distractions, and I can’t think of anything more distracting then bringing photography, or “selfies” into yoga. I think for the purpose of sharing and inspiring it is nice, but I think a lot of us have gotten away from what yoga is truly about, and this may be an example of that.

This was lovely. I have recently fallen back in love with yoga and am finding a deeper connection with myself and my practice. It is such a special time in my week when I can work though LIFE on my mat. I feel encouraged reading what your fellow yogis had to say, because each day for me in the practice is different. I am some days able to invert, and other days I fight fear. I love that it is always a challenge. Great photos! I feel like there is a big difference in boasting over cool photos and just feeling a self confidence and pride for reaching those achievements if they are in your practice, so nicely done.

I tried yoga for about a month and fell in love, but I got a little discouraged because I didn’t feel like I was flexible enough to do some of the poses. I really want to get back into it, but I feel I need a yogi partner lol

I’ve been wanting to get into yoga for a while. I’ll definitely have to work on carving out space for myself to practice.

This was a great post! It’s always wonderful to hear about the journey of other yogis and what brought them to their mat. Yoga has taught me the art of self-acceptance and self-love and it is what I try to teach my students in my classes. It makes me happy to know that there are other yogis out there trying to spread the beauty of the yoga practice. Thank you for sharing! May light and love always be on your path. Namaste! :)

This is such a great post!
I just started doing vinyasa yoga in a heated studio! Its only been about over a week and I am totally hooked! My brain feels so much more clearer, if that makes any sense.
And yoga really does feel like judge free zone!

Love love loveeee this post, it’s so interesting and refreshing to see how yoga affects peoples lives. I’m an 18 year old girl from England and have just started getting into yoga and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. With the stress of school and heavy work loads, yoga has helped me take time out for myself and feel so much more stable. I love meditating and ink the two go so well together.
