You can also sub cashew milk instead of dairy milk (which I find much tastier)- Here is a recipe

I’m going to stick with dairy milk…the protein is important for me! (Almond milk really doesn’t have any.)

i am impressed by each natural/health feature as they are posted!!! natural health + wellbeing + organic foods is so important to me (should be to everyone!) so i love seeing free people writing about this. rice milk is another great alternative to dairy milk. (or raw dairy milk, which is actually the only kind that should be consumed, for those who can handle dairy). an avocado a day for me! cannot get enough. lots of love, xoxo

I’m kind of in love with this series so far. All of the images are beautiful and it’s great information.
Keep ’em coming. (:

I do most of these already. I’ve been replacing butter with coconut oil. Try melting it in a pan before scrambled eggs, or spread across some toast. I like it better than butter! :)

Butter is as good for you as avacados – especially grassfed butter (try the Irish Kerrygold brand available in most Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods).

I like the health posts, but I wish Free People bloggers would research some health alternatives to veganism – there is lots of evidence that whole, real, naturally-produced dairy and meat products are healthy for people, especially for women who need protein, iron and fats.

“I wish Free People bloggers would research some health alternatives to veganism” – I thought a plant-based diet was alternative already. Hm. I’ll be the first to say that it’s not for everyone, but for me, the plant-based lifestyle has changed my health for the better.

Plants are good sources of protein, iron, fats – those are covered by quinoa, nuts, seeds, and avocados.

@Jane1990

It is debatable whether it’s possible to obtain necessary nutrients through plants alone, but even if it is possible for some conscious vegans, there are many other natural, organic and healthy animal-based sources as well, and for many women, this is optimal. Paleo, ancestral eating and gluten-free are some eating philosophies that many women use to stay nourished and healthy. Telling girls to replace wholesome foodsources that our ancestors have been eating for generations, and that the majority of people who adhere to ancient, traditional diets all over the world also consume while maintaining optimal weight and long lifespans, with less-nutritionally-dense plant-based items is ill-advised. Veganism can be an option, but it should not be presented as the best for everyone.

MAKE SURE you buy FAIR TRADE quinoa! The health craze of quinoa in the US and other developed nations have pushed up food prices to unaffordable rates in developing nations that rely on quinoa as a basic staple crop (it’s being exported instead of feeding the local people). We of course want to nourish our bodies, but we do not want to do it at the expense of others.
