A Weekend In Montauk

This post comes from FP Carrie, one of the original voices of this here blog!

Community is defined as a unified body of individuals, connected by either geography or ideals, or both. Last weekend, we integrated two communities – the people who inhabit the idyllic surf town of Montauk with 6 of our favorite NY-based FP Me girls, and the experience was pretty spectacular.

The FP Me girls arrived early, surrounded by the beauty of Navy Beach and the magic that our Vintage Loves buyer and team spun around our weekend home. After wrangling up some of our favorite FP pieces, coupled with items from our upcoming vintage collection, we headed out for some kayaking, a walk through a nearby park, and a field trip to Ditch Plains, before capping off the day with a beautiful dinner and s’mores by sunset.

Thank you, Montauk, for being a perfect host.  And a special thank you to local photographer Grant Monahan for his help and guidance this weekend! More to come :).

i thought the point of something like fp me was to show the clothes on a diverse range of people with diverse looks and styles but all i’ve seen from this series so far is group of thin, conventionally beautiful, mostly white girls…?

Always a fan of FP, I must respectfully agree with apple’s comment. FP Me feels like a club for skinny white girls who look like models and only wear FP head to toe. Come on now.

Looks like fun. And not trying to argue with above comments, but Apple and Lox you may want to take a closer look at these pictures. It’s full of a diverse background of different races, colors and shapes. FP is a love for all things bohemian female not matter what your background.

I was just going to say it’s so nice to see a dark-skinned black girl on your blog. I think you once used one on the website and I thought she looked amazing but she wasn’t used again, which is a shame. I think it’s great how fp uses diverse models, much more so than many other brands, but the lack of black girls (not just light-skinned ‘media-acceptable’ black girls or mixed black, I’d like to see some alek wek lookalikes! Seeing Amira Ahmed, the Somali/Filipino pixie-cropped stunner was great but she also didn’t last long.

I agree! Great to see a beautiful black girl in a post – women of color are few and far between on the free people website…there was a hispanic girl a couple of FP Me cities ago and I was really excited! I would love to see more diversity on the Free People blog.

I have to agree with apple, lox, sundal and emma! As a black woman, I’d probably be more inclined to buy free people if more black women (not the same light skinned, straight haired, latino or white women) were featured. Marketing is pretty poor on this end. One of the most un-diverse brands I’ve ever come across.
