What To Wear For The Fourth Of July

The fourth of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. Growing up, I would head down South to spend time with my family at the beach. The weekend would consist of massive amounts of hush puppies, boat rides to the island, and everything red, white, and blue. Be patriotic in what you wear this 4th by keeping that color theme consistent, no matter what your weekend plans are.

For the girls headed to that family BBQ, this look is for you. It’s fun, comfortable, and totally has me written all over it. Shorts and a tank to beat the heat and some converse for fun and games with all my cousins. The sweater takes me into the night as I snuggle up in a blanket and watch the colors explode into the night sky.

swimsuit and shells

For the girls near the water, this look is perfect. I love the idea of throwing a swimsuit under overalls. After a day at the beach or lake in a swimsuit, overalls give you a cute outfit for your next adventure. With a big hat to block the sun, and a bag to keep all your goodies in, you’ll be all set. This look is a bit less festive, but can be played up by adding a pop of berry colored stain to your lips, or a red bandana to keep the Americana theme.

For the girls that have all day and a night date planned, this look is for you. I love how pretty yet effortless this outfit can be. By layering a soft slip or dress with a basic tunic, and adding a belt, you are set for your 4th of July date. A good denim jacket is always a go-to on a summer night, and will keep the color palette rolling on. Wear this as you walk through the parades with the one you love, and keep it on into the night as you and a group of your best friends dance under the fireworks with sparklers in hand.

I totally need that drip drop tank now! Unfortunately, I can’t buy a single thing this summer, but I will still keep the inspiration. This is a great post!

I love Free People and I don’t want to be a buzzkill, but am I the only one bothered by the fact that only 4 of the items in these American-themed outfits were actually made in the USA?
