Monday Quote: What You Feel

“Your worst battle is between what you know and what you feel.”

There always comes a time, no matter what we’re faced with, when we learn to be comfortable in the situation. It could be work, a routine, or even a relationship, and it may take years, or it may only take a few days. I’ve noticed that when this happens to me, I sometimes forget to take a step back and really evaluate what’s going on. My gut has me feeling one way, but my comfort zone is sometimes too full to let any of those feelings in.

It takes risk, and removing yourself from the known to finally tend to those feelings. You can always find your way back, it might just be down a different route…the route that those feelings are telling you to take.

And yes, it’s a battle, but one you can always find a way to win.

I actually think this is misleading. Our feelings can be very inaccurate. Our feelings are not always something we should follow. Sometimes, we must go on what we know. Just because we think or feel or believe something doesn’t mean it is true. Girls with anorexia who are extremely underweight. But that doesn’t mean she needs to lose weight.
A man may feel like he should break up with his girlfriend, but it may be that, deep down, his feelings come from fear of commitment or rejection. A fear of commitment is no reason to end a good relationship, but if that man were to follow his feelings, the relationship would be over.
