3 Ingredient All Natural Peppermint Mouthwash

Having fresh and clean breath instantly makes me feel more put together.

When I wake up from a nights sleep, I’ll brush my teeth before I do anything else to kick start my morning routine. The minty sensation is powerful, and makes me feel that much more awake. I don’t always buy mouthwash, but if it’s on hand, I’ll always follow up with a swig, or gargle some right before I leave the house. Morning is usually the only time I use mouthwash, but sometimes it would be nice to freshen up mid day. I really don’t like to chew gum, so when I found this recipe for an all natural mouthwash, I wanted to make a batch to use at home, and to stick in my bag in case I need a quick pick me up throughout the day. The best part is that there are only three ingredients, and it’s all natural!

What you need:

Jar/vessel to store the mouthwash

Water

Baking Soda

Peppermint Essential Oil

peppermint oil

A combination of peppermint oil and baking soda will work wonders on the mouth. The baking soda will help to reduce the build up of acid left over from food which eventually causes halitosis (bad breath), in addition to whitening teeth. The peppermint oil helps treat canker sores and freshens with it’s powerful scent. Together, you have the makings for an all natural peppermint mouthwash.

To make, fill up your jar or vessel with water. Mine held about 2 cups of water. Add in 2 tsp baking soda, and about 3-4 drops of peppermint oil. Stir to combine.

bottle and flower

Gargle with this mixture for about 1-2 minutes before spitting it out, then follow up with a little water rinse.

Processed with VSCOcam with s2 preset

I like to transfer some of the mixture to a smaller bottle so I can stick it in my bag and have it on hand throughout the day. It’s perfect to use after lunch, or whenever you’re in need of fresh breath!

You guys seem to listen to our minds… I was hoping for weeks now that someday you would post an easy- to- do mouthwash (those on the net are not quite easy)! Because I’ve had quite enough of over the counter mouthwashes with a thousand ingredients and awful plastic waste.
thanks so much ☼☼☼
