A Stay At The Urban Cowboy BnB

This post comes from our dear friend Ruthie Lindsey!

I first heard about Urban Cowboy B&B this past summer when friends of mine would post swoon worthy photos from their time staying there. I knew I had to experience it one day, and that day happened in September when I was lucky enough to get to stay a week at Urban Cowboy in the heart of Brooklyn. To say this place is absolutely set apart is a huge understatement. It has an open, welcoming, communal home feel, but it has more vibes than most homes Ive ever been to. When you walk in the front door, you instantly feel like you are entering into something special. Its aesthetically so beautiful, but I think it’s the atmosphere that takes it to the next level. I instantly felt at home. I had plans the afternoon I arrived but quickly rescheduled them so I could hang out with new friends in the backyard hot tub at the Cowboy. What’s funny is so many nights we would be out experiencing really fun, wonderful New York experiences but would decide to leave them to go back and hang out at the Cowboy! My week there was truly one of my favorite weeks I’ve ever had and the people I met there were incredible. Lyon, the owner and creator of Urban Cowboy, was so welcoming and made me feel right at home. Jersey, the beautiful soul that runs the show, could not have been more wonderful – I was constantly impressed with how cool, calm, and collected she stayed while being pulled in a ton of different directions. They both became fast friends and actually ended up coming to stay with me in Nashville the very next week! I’m so very happy to know both of these new friends!

Urban Cowboy is an urban oasis. The first thing you see when you walk in is the communal living space, that has two beautiful garage doors on either end. There are always fun people in and out of the open living area and kitchen, working, eating, drinking, playing games or just visiting. I met characters from all over the world, and loads of locals and friends that come there just to hang.  It boasts four different rooms for rent in the free standing town home, and a sound proof log cabin in the backyard. Every corner of The Cowboy looks and feels photo-shoot worthy and I love that everything feels extremely intentional and well thought out – specially created by Lyon to offer a shared living, communal experience.

The urban cowboy hosts incredible events all the time. While I was there I had the absolute pleasure of getting to attend a 9 course meal created by a collaboration between Tasting Society and Pure Supper Club. It was absolutely fantastic! Jessica Zollman and I also had the opportunity to host a southern themed dinner party for new and old friends while we were there. I can’t imagine a better atmosphere for such a hang! The night felt pretty magical, ending with a dance party in the back sound proof cabin – such a wonderful night!

All that to say, if you ever have the opportunity, do yourself a favor and stay at Urban Cowboy BnB! I can vouch that it will be a stay you will never forget!

I love this! Personally I dream of living in a renovated barn… and I would love to have a vintage lightbulb chandelier like the one in these photos, so gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.

I have tried to call many times and the voicemail is always full so you can not leave a message. I have tried to inquire about and book a room online and I have not been able to make that work. I would really like to stay there but … HELP! any suggestions?
