I’ve began making a gradual, wonderful switch to natural beauty products over the past few years… but it seems that I’ve been ignoring a very important aspect – one that may just be the least natural of all: nails.
I recently decided to forego nail polish for about a month just to give my body a break – and it was awesome – but I must admit, I love a beautiful freshly-painted set of nails every now and again. So today I’m sharing a few products whose list of ingredients is much more natural than most, thus leaving you with a more natural manicure… and some peace of mind to go with it.
First up: the polish. I recently discovered RGB, and immediately I knew I needed their products in my life. Their nail polishes are made of what’s known as a “five free” formula, meaning they contain no formaldehyde, toluene, DBP (dibutyl phthalate), formaldehyde resin, or camphor. In the nail polish world, this is huge.
Plus, the bottles are super chic, and their color selection is pure perfection. But wait… does it dry shiny? Check. Does it last long? Check. Is the formula vegan? Cruelty free? Made in the USA? Triple check. I kid you not, as soon as you get your hands on one of these bottles, you’ll kick yourself for going this long without it.
Next up is a pair of products that always seems to go hand in hand: nail polish remover & cotton balls. The Karma Naturals Soybean Oil & Lavender Nail Polish Remover is heaven. I have to admit: I was skeptical upon trying this. But guess what, my friends. It works perfectly. I was blown away. It’s a much better experience than using typical nail polish remover, as well – the scent is unbelievable, and the soybean oil leaves your nails feeling super smooth and moisturized. As for cotton balls, the answer is simple: go for organic! I found a bag of organic cotton balls at Whole Foods for about $5.
Last but certainly not least: nail serum. I recently got my hands on GingerChi Nail Repair Serum, and I’m in love. Even just reading the ingredients list brings a smile to my face: hemp oil, sesame oil, vitamin E, ginger root oil, lavender flower oil, tea tree oil, grapefruit peel oil, and rosemary oil. Perfection. You just use the little brush to apply it on- and around your nails before bed, and let it work its nourishing magic as you sleep. It’s great to do the night before giving yourself a manicure, or just for some extra care when you’re going au natural.

I LOVE this nail polish remover. Awhile back I tried looking into more natural nail polish removers and ran across this one on Amazon! It’s the best I’ve seen so far!
For me, switching to five-free polishes wasn’t enough. I feel like we’re exposed to enough chemicals in our enviroment without adding it to our bodies, so I opted for a water-based formula. I’ve been using SCOTCH for a couple of years now, and yes, it does not perform the same way as solvent based polishes but I still get a good 3-4 days before tip wear so I’m happy.
I love painted nails too much to go completely without, and the colour range is brilliant. Packaging is also uber-chic – a big point for me!
Most ‘green’ products fail in the chic-packaging department.

I know that Jin Soon, Priti, and Vapour make five-free nail polish as well! Haven’t heard of RGB but I would love to try it out. I’m very excited about the natural nail polish remover – I didn’t think those things existed! Where might I be able to get some? cheers xx
Yes but where to buy tha nail products suggested? RGB nail polish, Karma polish remover and Ginger Chair nail repair serum. I have very dry weak nails and would love to make them strong again! Thank you
