Puerto Rican Dream Land

For seven days, Puerto Rico became my home.

I was new to this part of the world, and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to meet its beauty. To describe this island in a few words really won’t do its allure justice. Puerto Rico is one of those places that you need to experience for yourself before you can understand its magic. On this trip, I found it in on the northwest coastline.

I owe it all to my brother for letting my family and I in on all the little secrets. He had us beat with experience, seeing as though this was his third time to the island. We were on the hunt for waves, so travelling off the beaten path is where we found ourselves most of the time. From surf breaks and beaches to local food goldmines, he showed us all of his favorite gems before the four us of found some new ones together.

Prior to embarking on any trip, there’s a certain kind of expectation that I build up in my mind. I’ll think back to other places in which I’ve traveled to that seem similar, and try to paint a picture of what the new place will look like, and what the days will consist of. I do this every time I go somewhere, but I always leave with an experience and feeling that is unlike any I’ve ever known. Puerto Rico in particular has a way about it that almost casts a spell on you. There’s so much to do and see, and for a rather small island, you can pack in a lot in a short amount of time.

This time off was something I needed, and something I greatly appreciate. We all need to take a few days for ourselves once in a while to stay sane, and to seek out inspiration that may have been lost in the chaos of a busy schedule. If I learned anything from this trip, It’s that my heart belongs in a place where the sun always shines and the ocean is at my fingertips. The golden rays and salty air breathed a little life back into me, and I’m holding on to it for as long as I can.

I could go on, dissecting our days hour by hour, but I’ll let the below pictures speak for themselves. Welcome to Puerto Rico.

Gorgeous photos. When I travel I always get so caught up that I forget to take photographs, and then I kick myself for it when I get back.
