Weekend Snapshot: Wrap… Repeat

Well, this is it my friends… The time of year when I suddenly find myself surrounded by lots of little unwrapped gifts, mountains of wrapping paper, and… where did I put the tape?

Without fail, it always comes down to this last weekend, but you know what? I kind of love the rush, the last-minute trips to the store, late nights spent baking dozens of cookies while serenading myself with holiday music in my kitchen. You might just be in the same boat, but why not have some fun with it? Put on a cozy sweater dress, some booties that could just as easily be worn as slippers, and all the trimmings of a comfy night in, and crank the radio. While you’re at it, entice a friend to help (the promise of hot cocoa and marshmallows always does the trick), if there’s one thing that makes the final rush of preparations feel less like a chore and more like holiday cheer, it’s the company of someone you love.

My friend and I went shopping today and there were so many stressed faces around, buying last minute gifts. I wish people would stop stressing, slow down and enjoy the festive season instead of getting too overwhelmed with the commercial side of it.

I’m actually done with christmas shopping (surprisingly)..actually, I have two more gifts to find then i’m done. But I’m not really stressed about it. I have an octopus to finish knitting for my nephew and some chocolate covered peanuts to make for all the men in the family, but to me that’s easy stuff. I’m not ready for christmas to be here, not because of the unfinished gifts, but because of the christmas spirit that runs through everyone this time of year. Once christmas is over everyone goes back to their routine. No more “Merry Christmas” from random strangers on the street. No more cozy fireplaces to warm our toes or fun DIYS to do with loved ones. The joyful spirit is lost..but I guess i’ll just have that much to look forward to next year!

Love this. It’s always such a treat to prep for the holidays with my family. With work, my sister being away at college, etc. it’s a time of year when we can all slow down and gather around the tree or in the kitchen getting ready.

Warm Regards,
Alexandra

That sweater dress is divinity! I really need more cozy items in my wardrobe. Moved to a place that actually has winters and my wardrobe has yet to catch up. Thanks for the encouraging post! :)
