FP Me Stylist Of The Week: Saralrash

Blonde hair, fair skin… Sara has a look that’s soft and romantic, but leaves you curious about the soul that lives within.

What is her story? Where does she come from?

I asked her these things, because I was curious myself after seeing her photos pop up on FP Me. You can tell she knows what’s she’s doing, so it was no surprise when I found out she had a blog of her own. This Texas beauty is always on the hunt for inspiration, but in turn enjoys inspiring others through her style musings on Sarah Rash, her blog. Take a peek at her photos below, and get to know a little bit more about one of our favorite FP Me users!

Where are you from? How has this shaped the person that you are today?
I am from a small town in east Texas. This has shaped who I am tremendously. I love the vibe of a small town. There’s such a sense of community and familiarity. Everyone is so kind and warm.

Are there any hidden gems where you currently live that you can share with us?

To be honest there is not a lot poppin’ off in my hometown. But there are so many family-owned restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques. I love the uniqueness and history of each spot. Knowing that someone has truly put their heart and soul into their product just makes it that much more enjoyable.

What does a typical day in the life of Sara look like?

I am currently taking online classes for fashion merchandising and working from home as the assistant buyer to Top Knot Goods, so a lot of my time is spent at home right now. But I don’t mind, I feel happiest in my own zone surrounded by the people I love the most. I like to start off every morning with some sort of inspiration, be it through reading blogs or even just scrolling through Tumblr, of course all of this is done with a cup of coffee in hand. It’s important to me to start the day with a boost of inspiration because I feel like it keeps my creativity pumping throughout the day and pushes me to be the best me. Then I finish up any school projects and work begins. Since I am the assistant buyer for a company doing so many great things, and run by someone I love so dearly, I feel so lucky to get to spend my day working closely with Natalie, the owner. When I am not working, I like to spend my time with my family and friends and rolling around in the grass with my pup. She’s a lab and the love of my life.

What inspired you to start your blog?

My best friend is the one who inspired me to start my blog. I was constantly reading other fashion blogs and she really gave me that push I needed to start my own. I am a total introvert, so I loved the idea of getting to express myself through personal style in a way that felt comfortable and safe to me, a blog was the perfect way to do that. I think I always knew deep down that I had the passion and perseverance to start a journey like the one I’m on, but sometimes it just takes somebody else really believing in you and your vision to set things in motion. I could never thank her enough for encouraging me to start my blog; she is the reason for all the amazing opportunities I have been presented with and all the relationships I have built.

For any new readers, what can they expect to see or learn?

I feel as though my style is constantly evolving, so I can’t wait to see where that leads me. Have no expectations! Fashion is all about expressing yourself, and your self is always changing. Do what you feel — as opposed to what people classify as “fashionable” — and nobody will ever know what to expect. Keep them guessing! I have some amazing design opportunities coming up in the next few months that I am so excited for, some that even include travel, which I can’t get enough of. Also, since I am a hairstylist and braid enthusiast, I am hoping I can soon find a way to incorporate some tips and tutorials into my blog. Stay tuned!

Where are some of your favorite places to shop in Texas that cater to your personal style?

Since I am from a smaller town, there aren’t too many shopping spots I frequently visit. I tend to stick to online shopping! Although I do love vintage boots and hats, so I guess you could say I live in the best place for that.

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?

Thirty, flirty, and thriving! Hopefully everyone caught that 13 Going On 30 reference! But in all seriousness, I probably would guess thirties. I am a total homebody and am really not into going out to bars or anything like that. I just feel most comfortable curled up in my bed with a fashion mag.

If you had to move to another state or country besides the one you live in now, where would it be, and why?

I would love to live in California, I am not sure where in California, but somewhere near the beach. I had the chance to visit Cali over the summer and I have been craving a trip back. It is totally different from Texas and that is what I loved most, I loved how accepting and free the people there were — I wouldn’t mind waking up to the beach every morning either. My best friend and I are planning on making a trip there this summer, and there’s a good chance I might not come home. Sorry Texas, still love you though.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

My parents named me after the song ‘Sara’ by Fleetwood Mac. They have always recited the lyric, “…don’t you ever change and don’t you ever stop” from that song to me; it is something I live by.

What does being “free” mean to you?

To me, being “free” means being completely authentic. I think when you learn to love yourself and stay true to yourself; you are more open to the world and what it has to offer. I have learned to accept all my flaws and appreciate all my talents, it has helped me to love others and continue to celebrate life with the people I love. I have never felt more free.
