Under Northwestern Skies

Clouds roll in. White fog blankets the land and begins to shadow the sun. Pink, purple, and yellow light is cast into the slowly disappearing sky and bounces off the land. The clouds move with the wind, twisting and weaving with each other. Layers upon layers of misty pillows build, growing higher into the sky. The heavier clouds sink down and touch the tops of the pines causing the colors to change from purple to blue to white.

The beauty is overpowering in its grandiose simplicity. These skies are like no other in the world – they are the skies of the Pacific Northwest.

Love this – sunsets are so very special, and I always remember the sailor’s rhyme predicting the weather of the next day depending on when the pink happens :)
