Sasquatch Festival Photo Diary

A weekend celebrating live music in the great, great outdoors… does it get any better?Sasquatch Festival in Quincy, Washington is set in a location so supreme it’s hard to fathom that it even exists. The main stage sits atop the canyon on the Columbia River; gorgeous purple layers and plateaus are only a blink away from bands strumming their guitars. Miles of vast desert land and open sky surrounds you for as far as the eye can see. To combine a music festival with the grand beauty of this land is nothing short of magical.

I’ve been to a few music festivals now and I have to say that Sasquatch is one of my favorites. Besides the obviously stunning location, this festival was all about the music — a festival for true music fans. Being a lover of music myself, I spent my time watching acts I knew and loved (e.g. Father John Misty and St. Vincent) and getting to know new music (hello Courtney Barnett!) I was also thoroughly excited to see Sleater-Kinney perform again since reuniting last year and, man, let me tell you that show rocked. Gracing the main stage a few nights after the lady rockers of Sleater-Kinney was music legend Robert Plant. I have loved Led Zeppelin since I was young kid digging through my dad’s record collection. To hear him sing “Going to California” was a spine-tingling moment, one that I will remember forever. Future Islands, Jenny Lewis, Shovels and Rope, Sylvan Esso, Shaprece, and James Blake were also favorites. Keep reading to see some of my favorite photos from this past weekend’s Sasquatch Festival.

Josh Tillman of Father John Misty is one of my favorite musicians. His voice is clear and strong yet dreamy and oh man, can he dance.
