Lavishness, excess, sensuality, indulgence, love, authenticity, individualism… the seventies had it all.
Fast lane living, personal freedoms, brotherly and sisterly love. The revolution ruled. It’s a decade that will forever inspire and there is no better photographer to capture our new collection than Jason Lee Parry. His vision is intelligible and inspired. Cool and bright. He captures a certain chic seventies confidence and rawness — making that intangible feeling you get when viewing his images so real you can almost, almost, touch it. Jason makes us yearn to go back in time and live it for ourselves. So take a look at the video and photos below by Jason and allow yourself to be transported to the era of free spirit and glamour.
What photographers have influenced you the most?
Guy Bourdin, Helmut Newton, Larry Fink, Robert Frank and Dennis Hopper.
What do you love most about the 1970s?
I like all the classic things about the ’70s especially earlier in the decade… the music, the cars, the vibe. It seemed like an exciting time to live. It was a breakout era.
If you went back to 1970 tomorrow, what would you do?
I would go to either New York or LA and soak it in, experience the decade for myself.
Some of the most influential music came out of the 1970s – do you have a favorite album or band from that time?
I really like music from the early seventies like The Stooges, The Velvet Underground, also Pink Floyd and Tom Petty.
What model would you most like to photograph from the seventies?
Probably Gia, everyone else was a little too wholesome at the time.
What inspires you the most about the seventies?
The decadence and excessiveness.
