What We’re Packing For Newport Folk Festival

With a new festival on the horizon, we’re packing our bags and hitting the road. Will we see you there?

Come Thursday, Natalie and I will be headed north to Rhode Island for Newport Folk Festival. The last time I had to pack for a festival seems like ages ago. SXSW back in March was the last major festival I attended, so I’m excited to get my suitcase back out for another trip! I’ve never been to this fest, or Rhode Island for that matter, so all new experiences are on the horizon. We’ll be exploring the town, hanging out with Free People Providence, and enjoying the music. Situated against Newport Harbor, I’ve heard you never run out of pretty things to feast your eyes on while dancing and moving about the festival grounds. Keep an eye out for us, as we’ll be capturing all of our favorite festival looks on Friday! As for our wardrobes, summer layering is what we have in mind. Shorts, tanks and tees during the day, but still remembering a sweater to cozy up with in the evening. Here’s what we’re taking with us:

When picking out my Newport Folk Festival outfit I had one thing in mind: dancing. I plan on doing my fair share this weekend, and I want what I am wearing to be comfortable enough to allow me to twirl to my heart’s content. A soft mini skirt and turtleneck tank make the perfect pairing – especially with the all the fringe involved in the ensemble. The long tassels make movin’ and shakin’ all the more fun. I made sure to pack a soft pullover to tie around my waist during the day, and slip over my top once the sun dips below the horizon.

Comfort is number one for me at any festival. I have to be able to feel good in whatever I choose to wear since I’m always on the go. Shorts, a tee, and a good pair of boots is uniform for me. The We The Free Wached Hem Tee is one of my favorite things on the site right now. Cropped shapes and cotton material is exactly what I want if I’m going to be outside for a long time. For night, I’ll throw a neutral pullover in my bag to layer on if it gets cool. Always gotta be prepared.
