Recipe: Pear, Rosemary, and Honey Pizza to Make With Friends

Gather your friends and make this pizza recipe for your next girls’ night in!

This post comes from our blog intern, Monica!

One of my favorite parts about making pizza is that you can easily make — and share it — with friends. While in NYC this past weekend, I had the chance to meet up with a few of my closest friends. After inviting them over to make some late night pizza, we cranked up some tunes, rolled up our sleeves, and started testing out different combinations of cheeses, toppings, and flavors.

My second favorite part of making pizza? The ability to get creative with it! A dash of this and a pinch of that can completely transform a pie from a classic dinner to a decadent dessert. This pear, rosemary and honey pizza fell somewhere in between, with a mix of creamy blue cheese paired with fresh pear, sweet honey, and a hint of spicy cinnamon. A peculiar combination, it may seem, but I was amazed with how it turned out! Read on for the recipe, and for a vegan version simply switch out the blue cheese for a vegan “cheese”, or skip it all together — I can guarantee it will still taste amazing.

Pear, Rosemary, and Honey Pizza

Ingredients:

Pizza dough (make your own or purchase fresh)

2 Tbsp olive oil

One large Bosc pear, thinly sliced

1/3 cup blue cheese crumbles

5-10 sprigs of rosemary

3 Tbsp honey

Optional:

1 Tbsp of sprinkled cinnamon

½ cup walnuts or candied pecans, chopped

1 Tbsp Parmesan cheese

If you’re a vegan, this recipe is still great without cheese or you could try a cheese substitute like Daiya

Tools:

Pizza stone or cookie sheet + parchment paper

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 425˙F then prepare the pizza crust as directed, flouring the pizza stone or parchment paper and shaping the dough.

2. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil on the flattened dough and then add sliced pears. Crumble your blue cheese, if using, over top — you can add more or less depending on your preference. Sprinkle on the rosemary and drizzle the honey. If you’re feeling bold, add a sprinkle of cinnamon and your choice of nuts.

3. Bake for 16 minutes or until the crust is slightly browned.

4. Enjoy with your #FPBFF!

This delicious pizza uses both savory and sweet ingredients and is a great choice for a dinner party. Even though this recipe doesn’t have cheese in it, I bet a mild cheese, like ricotta, would taste very good on this pizza! However, it’s delicious as-is.
