3 Braids for the Holidays and Beyond

Learn three simple hairstyles with these tutorials~

‘Tis the season for holiday parties and New Years extravaganzas, i.e. time to get your ‘do in order. To help you achieve your “stop-them-in-your-tracks” look is Lindsey Pengelly, avid FP Me user and braid extraordinaire. We hope you’ll try out the below soon…and get ready to show off those twisty locks!

Here’s Lindsey with the steps:

Hairstyle #1: Romantically Undone
I love this braid — elegant yet so simple ,and doable in just 3 easy steps:

Step 1. I always curl all my hair when I do large braids –it gives hair more texture and makes the braid look fuller. I used a 1 1/4″ Hot Tools curling iron. After you curl your hair, grab a section of hair in the back to braid but leave out sections on each side as shown in the picture.

Step 2. Take the back section of hair and start a dutch french braid, securing it with an elastic. To make the braid look thicker, just pull it apart.

Hairstyle #2: Beachy Glamour
Step 1. With you hair in its natural part, curl your hair with a 1″ curling iron. Take small pieces of hair and wrap around your curling iron tightly — be sure not to run your hands through the curl just yet.

Step 2. Once you’re finished curling, now decide which way to part your hair. I chose to create a very deep side part for this look.
Gently comb out the tight curls to give your hair a romantic wave.

Step 3. Pull all your hair to one side and tuck it behind your ear. I also twisted in a Free People sparkle hair clip to add some shine!

Hairstyle #3: New Years Princess
Step 1. Curl your hair. I used the 1 1/4″ barrel iron.

Step 2: On one side of your head, take a small section of hair from behind your ear, do a normal three strand braid. I clipped a sparkle hair extension in gold to add some holiday magic to the braid! Secure the braid with elastic and pull the braid apart to make it thicker.

Step 3. Twist the braid! Twisting the braid adds texture and a different look.

Step 4. Take the twisted braid and bring it to the other side of your head, using bobby pins to secure the braid. I pinned my braid right behind my ear.

Step 5. Do the same braid on the opposite side of your head, twist, and bring it over to the other side of your head.
