This post comes to us from London by way of Anna Shearer.
London is one of the most magical cities on New Year’s Eve. The city is riddled with Christmas lights, bustling crowds and the most endearing atmosphere, not to mention the breathtaking firework display over the River Thames.
NYE is always a pivotal moment for me. I reflect on the year and how much I have accomplished, relationships I have created or nourished and, most importantly, I look to see if I’ve achieved last year’s New Year’s resolutions (which is usually a no — I’m still not a yoga teacher living in Bali but, hey, there’s always hope!).
Every year I usually head out somewhere in the city with my girlfriends. The location will change from year to year, but there are two traditions that I always follow — wear something sparkly and embellished, and make a wish when the clock strikes midnight! It’s usually spontaneous and a last-minute decision because I want to make sure that, at that very moment, it’s what I really want…
