Hi-Rise

Our latest obsession…

This post comes from our blog intern, Emily!

One of the most important silhouettes for spring — the hi-rise cropped flare. Or, your new staple.

We’ve been a fan of skinnys, and we’re all about a good boyfriend jean. But Free People has always loved its flares, and we couldn’t argue that it’s time for an update. For those of us that wouldn’t wear a classic flare, or maybe just want to mix up our regular jean routine, this is the perfect pair — you can have the best of both worlds with the hi-rise crop.

Summer of Love Cropped Flare

There’s about a million different ways to style them. They’re versatile and, most importantly, comfortable. Different washes completely change the jean! And we can’t forget to mention the hemlines and stitching — unique features that most jeans don’t offer.

Wear them day or night by dressing the darker washes up with a heel or boot. Or keep it casual with the lighter wash, a sweater and a flat shoe. Whichever way you chose to wear them, you’ll feel like a new person.

Crop tops have been an ongoing trend in fashion and street style. It was about time that this trend moved to denim. The cropped flare’s comfortable fit is flattering on any body type and is the perfect cut to spring forward. It can be paired with sandals, boots, heels, and sneakers!”

“You can wear simple pieces in effortless ways. Because the jeans are hi-rise, it gives you that very sought-after tucked-in, clean feel.”

I’ll continue to wear my 501’s, skinny’s, baggy overalls. As long as I can remember we called the “cropped” jeans, “floods” and not in a good way. For us who are short they make us look even shorter and dumpier (i wear a size 5 and sometimes a 3 depending on the maker) so I’m not chunky by any means. I try to make my legs appear longer, not shorter. I wish Free People would consider that we are not all tall nor stick thin. Petite women have a hard time wearing your clothing. Your sister company Anthropologie has petites, why can’t Free People? I used to buy some of my clothes from Anthropologie until the line got too frumpy for lack of a better word. Please consider the rest of us Free People. Thank you
