5 Beauty Products Every Camper Needs

It’s almost camping season — here are the five beauty products every camper needs.

If you are anything like me, we agree that we are entering the most exciting time of the year: camping season! Yesssssssss. I grew up camping with my family; every year we would pack our VW bus and putz off to Lake Tahoe to set up life for the week. The memories that I have there with my family are some of the strongest and most favorable memories I have ever experienced and it’s made me an avid camper today.  Tent camping, car camping, festival camping… you name it, I’ve done it. I love to pack light –essentials only. But when it comes to beauty, things can be a little tricky. I don’t like to pack (or wear) any makeup because I think of being in nature as a time to give my skin a healthy break. But we all still want to look good, amirite? Below are my five favorite beauty products that will keep you feeling like hot stuff, even while roughing it. And another thing: you can buy them all at your local drug or grocery store, on the cheap! No department store needed.

Burt’s Bees Cucumber Facial Cloths: These cleansing wipes are little gifts from heaven. (I AM NOT EXAGGERATING.) They are perfect for wiping off the dirt, grime and s’mores from your face every night before you sleep. They are easy to pack, gentle enough for all parts of your body, and smell like heaven, too.

Neutrogena Healthy Defense Moisturizer and SPF: Not too oily and made for combination skin, this OTC moisturizer is my favorite. The SPF will keep you covered all day and the moisturizer will leave you feeling clean and lush. (But we all know we still need to wear a hat for extra coverage… right, ladies?)

Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo: This. Is. The Best. Even in real life, I use this. When you can’t get to a shower, this dry shampoo will save your (hair) life. I have tried a variety of dry shampoos and I still find this one to be the best. It’s available in a large can, too!

Visine Totality Eye Drops: Eye drops are often overlooked when packing your beauty bag, but let me tell you, you are going to need/want/crave them. With all the dust from the campground, the smoke from the campfire and light from the sun, your eyes will be screaming for comfort. Moisturizing eye drops will give you that relief.

Burt’s Bees Moisturizing Lip Balm: You might be thinking that lip balm is a no-brainer but, until you have experienced a camping trip without chapstick, you have no idea. I love Burt’s Bees brand because it’s protective, moisturizing and gives your lips a hint of tint.

I love this post! I always bring clear mascara/clear brow gel with me when I go camping. I don’t like to wear makeup when out and enjoying nature, but it keeps my eyebrows in check without feeling like I’ve glopped on unnecessary make up!

Perfect list! I’d add a travel size of a moisturizing face mask to do while you’re sleeping – I brought a mini Glamglow mask I got as a reward from Sephora to Patagonia and my friends and I had such great skin the whole trip! Vaseline is super important, too.

YES on the eye drops & wipes. I always bring bug spray! No one likes to get bitten and being covered in little red bumps/bites isn’t what I want to notice in photos from my trip. I use the Honest Company’s Honest Bug Spray. I also always bring some Polysporin. Double duty because I use it for cuts/burns/scrapes AND for acne. It’s anti-bacterial, so if I have a spot coming on I’ll dot it on at night and it reduces size and redness by morning.

Great write up. Will be using this when I make the trip from Australia. Just what a gal like me wants to know when planning the driving section of my holiday, will share with my circle.
