When it comes to wellness and travel, there are many questions to be answered. To help in the cause we’re launching Dear Escapes: an advice column to answer all of your needs. Each week, we’ll pick a different question posed by the Free People community, and we’ll assign one of our FP Escapes guides to craft an answer. With specialists in everything from yoga and energy work to vegan baking and Ayurveda, FP Escapes offers the ultimate network of experts to tap into.

Crystal Dawn Froberg

Having completed her 200 hours at The Laughing Lotus (San Francisco), and further studying under Elena Brower, Crystal Dawn Froberg offers yoga that holds space for healing and tuning into the rhythm of one’s own heart. Crystal is also a certified vegan chef currently pursuing her nutrition degree and running a pop-up vegan bakery called Passion Flour. She has traveled extensively, teaching dance workshops in Big Sur, yoga in Puerto Rico and beyond.  Crystal will be leading our Montana retreat, Mother Mountain.

Ashleigh Sergeant

Ashleigh Sergeant is the co-founder of The Avahana School of Yoga and Expressive Healing Arts in Costa Rica. She spent five years as the Global Yoga Trainer for Adidas, was honored to be the youngest Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor in the world, and is registered with Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT 500 level. Her videos are featured on My Yoga Online/GAIAMTV and Grokker, she is a regular presenter at Wanderlust and Lightning in a Bottle, and has contributed to sites such as Mind Body Green & YOGANONYMOUS. Ashleigh practices and teaches yoga to explore the beautiful and mysterious experience of being human, and will be leading our FP Escape to Peru, Superfood Civilization.

Katie Silcox

Katie Silcox is the New York Times Best-Selling author of the book, Healthy, Happy, Sexy — Ayurveda Wisdom for Modern Women. She is also an internationally-recognized yoga teacher, Ayurvedic practitioner, writer and inspirer of hearts and minds. She is renowned for her depth of study, her ability to present the complexities of yoga’s ancient wisdom in a practical, life-affirming manner, as well as her unique capacity to distill the teachings of yoga with southern-belle humor and grace.  Her style is a blend of classical yoga, vinyasa-based asana and life-changing Tantric/Ayurvedic philosophy. She will be leading our Sonoma retreat, The Heart of the Harvest.

Maggie Harrsen

Maggie Harrsen is an Energy Medicine Practitioner, inspiring beings to uncover their true nature and supporting them in a lifestyle of harmony and in rhythm with Pachamama, Mother Earth. Maggie began studying the healing arts in 2008 and today her work integrates a range of nurturing practices including Andean Mysticism, Shamanism, Usui Reiki, Sound Healing, Nutrition, Medical Radiesthesia and Flower Healing. She currently lives and works on the East End of New York, offering ceremony and individual healing sessions. Her love of Mother Earth naturally extends into healing and caring for the land through her reverence of Biodynamic Agriculture. Maggie will be co-leading our FP Escape to Spain, The Art of Ritual.

Mischa Varmuza

Mischa Varmuza teaches a heartfelt yoga practice with strong steady flow, creative sequencing and a deep focus on breath and alignment. She draws her understanding from a number of styles and traditions and her classes are woven with philosophy, myth and stories, as well as including carefully curated soundtracks, mantra and ritual. Mischa is certified with Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour level and is currently doing her 300 hour advanced teacher training. Mischa is a graduate from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London and is fully qualified in Naturopathy, Nutritional Therapy and Iridology.  She has also studied Reiki at The Reiki Centre in India with Reiki Grandmaster Ritu Sood.  Additionally, her travels to Peru have brought shamanic influence to her practices and teaching. Having been based in London, she is now a travelling yogini who spends her time between Asia and Europe practicing and teaching. Mischa will be co-leading our FP Escape to Spain, The Art of Ritual.

Claire Ragozzino

Claire began her health journey when she was 15, struggling with chronic digestive problems and searching for the answers to her own healing. She went to college in DC to study international affairs, development and sustainable agriculture, and worked at the UN International Fund for Agriculture Development. She traveled to India with an anthropology research grant, and deepened her studies in Ashtanga yoga and Ayurveda in Mysore. When she returned home, she found herself making a bigger influence in her local community, teaching yoga and opening minds one good meal at a time. Claire now makes an impact sharing knowledge in sattvic living and teaching women how to reconnect with their own inner wisdom through personalized wellness coaching, guided seasonal cleanses, transformational workshops and retreats. She will be leading our retreat in the Berkshires, Ayurvedic Awakening.

How do I get back in a healthy eating/workout routine after getting off track for a bit? I know I am capable of being balanced & disciplined, but can’t seem to take those first steps to get back there!
