Make: Your New Favorite Detox Salad Recipe

Need to hit the reset button on your body? Skip the juice cleanse and try this delicious detox salad recipe!

March is really showing itself to be a month of travel for me. Spending time on the road and away from home is one of my favorite things to do in the entire world, but it also can wreak havoc on my health. We all know restaurant menus and fast food are not great options but sometimes the only one available. I tend to drink more coffee on the road than water, and don’t always choose healthy snacks at the gas station when a bag of Chex Mix is staring at me.

Suffice to say, my body needs a break. A break from the sodium, the sugar, the coffee… I need to reset. When I got home from my latest road trip, I considered a juice cleanse but came across this salad recipe instead. (I prefer chewing.) It’s easy to make, low in cost and full of essential nutritents your body has been craving because it’s low in sodium while being high in magnesium, phosphorus, fiber and Vitamin A & C. Get the recipe below!

salad

Grocery List:

1 cup cooked farro
2 cups kale and butter lettuce mix, finely chopped
1 cup English cucumber, chopped bite size
1/2 avocado
1/2 cup beets, roughly chopped
1/2 cup alfalfa-clover sprouts
1/2 cup chopped red onion
Juice from lemon

salad

Boil farro in large pot for ten minutes or until softened.

Shred lettuce and kale mix and add to large salad bowl.

Chop cucumber, red onion, beets, avocado and add to salad mix.

Add in sprouts and farro.

Top with fresh lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste. (If you eat cheese, add feta crumbles.)

That looks so good! And I totally agree that you don’t need a cleanse when you want to detox. Just focus on healthier foods that make you feel good and your body will naturally do the rest :)
