Roadtrippin’

From New York to Los Angeles on zero major highways and plenty of curiosity… read on for some tips!

This post comes to us from Gillian Zinser.

There’s nothing better for you than travel. Letting go of the comfort, safety and stability in one’s routine. Choosing the wild, uncomfortable and unknown over the easy and expected. Not being afraid of being broke for a second. Or lost. Or having to start over again. To make it a priority to invest in experience, knowing that adventuring outside of your own little bubble can only make you a richer creative, or better at whatever your day to day work is. It doesn’t work for me just sitting still and doing ONE thing. There’s too much to see. Feel. Learn. I travel to keep myself awake. To keep curious. To learn about people, cultures, to better understand the human experience, to take me out of my ego and into the bigger picture. We all need an outlet outside of our regular routine to refuel, re-calibrate, inspire and keep us reaching. Thats what travel is for me.

This June, my guy and I decided to drive from New York to LA, avoiding major cities and highways. We took 16 days, crossed 14 states, drove 4904 miles, saw a million amazing things and met countless beautiful strangers along the way.

I completely agree. There’s no better place to be than on the road. You experience so much, and truly feel alive. My boyfriend and I usually do a big road trip every year and drove from Texas to Canada last year. It was by far our best trip.

Good luck with your future adventures!

I love her! She came into Natural Sisters (don’t leave without the vegan carot cake!) when I was working there 2 years ago. A beautiful person. I was so shy! She is a humanitarian and lovely soul. I followed her instagram after I met her and she is an inspiring woman. Makes me want to do great things. Love this piece Gillian <3
