Get A Sexy Décolletage

Don’t forget about one of the most beautiful parts of the body, it needs some extra caring for!

This post comes from our blog intern, Emily.

Your décolletage: French for the low neckline of a woman’s top or dress. The decolletage is the area of skin from your chest and neck, up to the face. It’s an often overlooked area in our daily skin care routine (but just as important) and one of the first places to show signs of aging.

This area needs to be cared for as routinely and gently as our face does in order to keep it looking youthful and help diminish wrinkles, fine lines, tough skin, and sun spots. Some dermatologists claim that the face starts at the breasts, and in certain cases it really does! Often times, I am lazy and skip this tender and beautiful part of my body to focus on my face. But as summer is approaching and we’re wearing more skin-baring outfits, I want to look after my skin as best I can. Here’s some tips to keep your décolletage oh-so-alluring:

Cleanse. You can use your facial cleanser or a gentle body soap! Pat dry, avoid rubbing with a towel and using harsh soaps that dry your skin out.

Exfoliate. Gently exfoliate your décolletage 3-4 times a week. An exfoliant with papaya enzymes will do wonders and be the most gentle.

Moisturize. Because this area of the skin is thinner than most other areas of the body, even the face, it always needs a little help from a good moisturizer. You can use a body oil, like coconut, your facial moisturizer, a body butter, or a gentle lotion. Avoid using common lotions, however as they can contain harsh chemicals.

Protect. This is HUGE. Always, always protect your skin from the sun with SPF if you’ll be baring this area out in the sun. It’s a common area to reveal sun spots, age, and is a popular place for skin cancer to develop. Get yourself some good SPF and re-apply often if you’ll be active or in the sun for a while. Try hard to avoid getting sun burnt here!

Masks. A great way to really get your décolletage glowing is by doing a face mask, but include your neck and chest. Cleanse pores, smooth texture, and lock in moisture. Yogurt and honey is excellent! My skin loves aloe (regardless of sun-exposure). I put some aloe gel on a cotton pad and gently dab it all over my face, neck, and chest before bed.

Watch Your Posture. The straighter you sit up, wrinkles won’t form as easily as a result from your shoulders and chest caving in.

Sleeping. Sadly, sleep wrinkles are a thing. Avoid sleeping on your stomach to decrease the possibility of developing wrinkles on your face and decolletage overnight.

Exercise. Sweating and getting blood flowing is always a good thing, especially for your skin and its longevity.

It is called “décolleté” in french :)

The correct french word is “décolleté”. Décolletage seems to be an industrial process.
As a french blogger, I write in english: which is quite difficult for me. So I thought it might be useful to make that correction.

have a nice day.
