Looking for 4th of July salad recipes? We’ve got the perfect one right here, sure to please everyone at your summer barbecue!
There was a time, many, mannnnnnny years ago, when my ideal 4th of July dish would have included store-bought pound cake, frozen berries, and whipped topping (c’mon, you know the kind of cake I’m talking about). The berries were about the only virtuous thing about that dessert, and thankfully, as my outlook and approach to food has evolved, so too have my barbecue contributions. Gone are the store-bought offerings, synthetic “toppings”, and too-heavy cakes! They’ve all been replaced with the best of what summer has to offer: fresh berries, crisp produce, and healthy, real toppings like nuts, seeds, and dried fruit. In hues of red, white and blue, a salad full of summer’s abundance is the perfect way to celebrate our independence while taking a stand towards our own health and happiness. Read on for the recipe, then be sure to add your own 4th of July recipes in the comments to help build the healthiest summer barbecue menu ever — just add fireworks!
