Fall Into NYC with Arpana Rayamajhi

Discover the Big Apple’s best as artist and jewelry designer Arpana Rayamajhi shares her favorite fall hangouts…

Didn’t get enough of the city this summer? No sweat. Literally. With the onset of fall, cooler temps are beckoning us to get out and explore… especially with a little help from our friend, Arpana Rayamajhi. By way of Kathmandu, Nepal, this beauty spends most of her time handcrafting one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces that infuse materials from her Nepalese upbringing with the rest of the world. For any creator/artist, inspiration is essential to maintaining a heightened and open level of consciousness. Fortunately, the Big Apple has about a million and 1 ways to do just that. Where does one start? Below, Arpana helps us navigate the city (and just beyond) in our must-have looks for fall.

Five things to do this in NYC this fall…

This fall, I want to revisit Dia Beacon but, this time, alone! (So I can see the work AND take my time.) I love the space, the work. It’s also a great excuse to get outside the city for a day trip!

Storm King. I have never been! Why? I don’t know.

Gallery hopping in Chelsea. I haven’t been to a single museum or gallery since graduating last year from Cooper. I needed a break from “art.” I don’t know if I was successful in achieving that. 😄

Explore the East Village. It’s my favorite neighborhood in NYC. I love the Japanese food there and popping into all of the little shops.

Check out all 5 boroughs. It’s sort of become a thing I want to do, but Manhattan is really all I know… although Jackson Heights, Queens is close to my heart because there’s a huge Nepali, Tibetan, Bangladeshi and South American community there. The food is incredible — and cheap — and I feel a great sense of nostalgia there.
