FP Me to You: Polaroid x FP Me Creativity Summit

Encompassing and capturing the beauty that is unplugging, recharging and getting the creative juices flowing…

This post comes from our dear friend and FP Me muse, Michelle.
There’s a beauty in quiet places, one that compels you to clear your mind, relax and start anew.  The hard part (especially living in the city) is making the time to actually find such a spot. Needless to say, when I received an invitation to attend the FPMe x Polaroid Creativity Summit, the opportunity to unplug, to recharge and get my creative juices flowing was most welcome.

A two-hour bus ride transported me upstate into the Catskill Mountains, among the company of contest winners from all over the country, as well as a few familiar faces for a day of creativity, collaboration, and fun. It’s safe to say, when we arrived at Foxfire Mountain House, we were all in immediate awe of the house and its ambience. Every part, inside and out, felt as though we were transported into our own little world, which made for easy introductions and casual breakfast conversation.

A summit highlight? Our “celebrity” panel, for sure. A couple of the masterminds behind Free People and Marc Serota from Polaroid University shared stories about their big breaks, challenges, wins and favorite projects. It was so empowering to hear from people working in the field — what they want, and how they are constantly evolving as a creative. And then, via groups of 3-4, we were given a Polaroid Snap Camera, and an assignment: to collaborate, think like art directors and creatively capture one of four concepts. Though we didn’t all know one other or each other’s shooting and styling abilities, the experience to unite and learn new skills, while fine-tuning our skills, was incredible.

After we completed the 8 challenges, we relaxed for a bit and chatted with each other while enjoying cocktails and snacks. Afterwards, we met and went over the challenges and discussed the creativity that was present in our photos. To see strangers come together to collaborate and photograph concepts that they all collectively agreed on was the best part.

I was sad to leave, but moreso excited to get my ideas down on paper and work with people that I normally wouldn’t have had the opportunity to. Being in the midst of such a beautiful and quiet space left me revived. I can’t wait to return to Foxfire with my friends and loved ones and create new memories with my newfound tips and tricks.

Be sure to check back next week, when I’ll share with you my beauty and wellness routines.
