Candida Cleanse

Sugar cravings, breakouts, foggy head… If these symptoms are causing you constant struggle, there might be something bigger at play.

This post is part of an ongoing collaboration with The Chalkboard Mag.

LISTEN UP, LADIES. For many women, candida – a build-up of yeast in the body – is often the covert cause of unpleasant symptoms we might not think to link together. A bit unsettling, yes, but take comfort in knowing there’s a simple solution for it. Holistic health coach and women’s health expert, Nicole Granato, is sharing a bit of critical knowledge on candida and an easy yet effective way to get it under wraps. Don’t suffer; read up and take charge with a natural remedy that’s probably in your pantry already…

As women we have yeast occurring naturally in our bodies. What’s essential for you to understand is that, when we build up too much of that yeast, it can start getting in the way of wellness. Candida overgrowth can greatly affect our entire body, including digestion, skin, hormones, fertility, mood, energy levels and even depression. Specifically, yeast can cause migraines, weight gain, weight loss issues, anxiety, chronic fatigue, infertility, cystic acne, bloating, pain during sex, missed periods and hair loss.

Fortunately, a simple apple cider vinegar cleanse can eliminate excess yeast and help bring our bodies back to balance. Here’s what you need to know:

THE COMMON CULPRITS: Candida and yeast infections are more common in women taking birth control pills, women that are recently pregnant or post-pregnancy, and women who consume lots of sugar, coffee or dairy. You do not need to experience a full-blown yeast infection to have yeast lingering in your body. Some people are more prone to yeast and candida build-up naturally. Everybody has candida – it’s just important to know how to manage it.

THE ACV SOLUTION: To help combat yeast and candida build-up in the body, drinking apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water twice daily is the best all-natural solution. Buying apple cider vinegar is easy and affordable. I highly recommend Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar. You want to look for vinegar that is not overly processed and contains the “mother,” which is a muggy-like substance that settles at the bottom of the bottle. This contains all of the miracle enzymes that make apple cider vinegar an extremely powerful health tonic. To cleanse with ACV, use twice daily for at least two weeks. If you continue daily, you can move down to once a day. The benefits of this drink are extraordinary – I highly support continuing daily.

THE BLACK LIST: Yeast and candida feed on sugar – these are two things you want to avoid 100% while on the cleanse. This includes eliminating citrus and acidic fruits such as oranges, grapefruit, lemons, tomatoes, pineapple and limes from your diet. If you decide to continue taking apple cider vinegar daily, you can implement citrus fruits back into your diet after you complete the cleanse.

I did not know about candida! But oh my, I don’t think I could eliminate sugar from my diet – I’m addicted… especially to citrus fruits.

I’ve been hearing about all the wonders raw apple cider vinegar can do! I need to seriously give this cleanse a try!

I know the topic of candida very well, because it is related to autoimmune diseases, including thyroid conditions. I am hypothyroid and used to have this candida, however I got rid off it (overgrowth, because candida will stay forever – everyone have it) by the diet. And yes you need to eliminate sugar… but after some time you can include it again, but you have to be careful. Good luck guys ;)

Is the ratio 8oz of warm water with 2 tbs of ACV? Oan, I’ve tried ACV as a dietary drink, that oboes cayenne pepper, raw honey and lemon &/or lemon juice. What are your thoughts to consuming ACV with the mixture? Thanks

A recommendation: I love making a ACV tea with honey, lemon, and cinnamon (or cayenne if you’re looking for a kick). It is a wonderful remedy if you’re feeling under the weather or want a digestion aid. Also, a good tea for beginners who are not used to the strong flavor of ACV at first. The more you drink, the more you grow to like the taste!

I know there are many benefits of unprocessed ACV (the type that contains the “mother”) however, I strongly suggest anyone attempting this to also look into some of the negatives! This cleanse will also work with processed ACV, and even though it does not contain all of the intact enzymes etc, ACV with mother could make you sick. Pasteurization kills bacteria and other harmful pathogens, even though the process does denature many of the beneficial aspects of the drink, so the pros of drinking ACV with mother does have its cons as well. The acidity of the ACV kills some strains of e.coli etc but it’s not without risk. I’m not trying to dissuade anyone from trying this, just think people should be aware of the possible negatives as well! There is a reason things are processed. I encourage everyone to make their own choices at the end of the day-just thought I’d share :)

Bragg also makes an ACV that is pasteurized, maybe I’m just paranoid because I studied Microbiology in college, but this is the type I use for this cleanse! Ok I’m done now

I started this program: certifiedtreatment.com/candida less than two weeks ago but I am already feeling the effects of the changes I’ve made. My skin fungus is almost all cleared up. It was so bad that I not only had a large rash but in some areas the skin had actually split open. It itched and was quite painful. Now I have no open sores, the rash and itching are greatly reduced and I have even lost 18 pounds. This program has been a life saver for me!

Hello Thank You For The helpful tips regarding the ACV. I’m going to try it for 2,weeks. How much warm water, and how much ACV? Also can I eat normally with the exception of all sugar and no citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, tomatos, and grapefruit. Again thank you so much for this information.

This article really should have included a suggested ACV to water ratio…

This last year I struggled with many of the symptoms listed above, but mostly digestive issues and depression/fatigue, and through my own research tried a candida diet (no sugar or carbs, which digest as sugar, and no alcohol!). So hard for 2 weeks but I felt a huge change after. Even 1 week helps!

If you really have candida overgrowth in your digestive track, you will know when it is eliminated from your body…your stool looks different / weird. Sounds gross but the confirmation that it’s getting out of you is nice!

It is VERY important to ackowledge that when they say to eliminate sugar, they don’t mean natural sugar found in fruits and greens. They mean added and synthetic sugar.
