About a Girl: Photographer Annie Edmonds

Annie is one of those women. If you know one… you need not any more words to understand what I mean. She exudes ease, poise, humor (and delightful sarcasm), around every corner in life. Nothing takes her off solid ground. She is steadfast, honest and… really… a photographer whose vision always will go outside the lines you brought with you. Read More

Song of the Week: “Busman’s Holiday” by Allah-Las

I’m a sucker for rock n’ roll. Raised by a father that used to manage rock bands in the 60’s and 70’s, my ears and feet gravitate towards the sounds that emulate Summer of Love in California. The Allah-Las are my favorite “nowadays” group, that still delivers the timeless classic rock I was raised on as a child. Read More

Song of the Week: Other Lives “For 12”

One of my most treasured beats for happy ears and moving feet. Other Lives, a band hailing from Stillwater Oklahoma, has that ability to sink you deep into personal thought whilst, simultaneously, plastering a smile across your face and forcing you to jump in a car and take a road trip. Read More

Rose Bowl Flea Market: Street Style

Fancy some of the very best people watching LA has to offer? Put this in your calendar. The second Sunday of every month, up to 20,000 people roll in to shop and sort the 2,500 booths of vintage, furniture, antiques, textiles (and much more) of the Rose Bowl Flea Market. Designers, celebrities, stylists, interior decorators… LA’s creatives flock to this (said to be the largest) market once a month, each with their own unique eye for what they are looking to bring home. Me? I prefer to sit in an old vintage recliner, coffee in hand, sunglasses snug and tight… and let the beautiful eclectic people watching begin. Ok, and a chunky piece of turquoise.  Come find me next time for a chat will you? Read More

Song of the Week: Lianne La Havas “No Room For Doubt”

I can barely talk and walk straight at the same time. This video — besides its utter pure perfection in pitch and tone — always amazes me for this very reason. Walking, singing, playing guitar and wearing 4 inch heels. Multi-tasking at its finest. Bravo, Lianne… bravo.

No Room For Doubt had me sparked at the title, then I dove head first, finding myself lingering on each lyric, hanging there to feel each moment as she tells it… “We all make mistakes, we do, I learnt from you”. Pauses are placed for purpose. Her pure soulful voice sings lessons of the wise as she strolls down the streets of Paris. Read More

West Coast Winter Dresses

Here on the west coast, our winter is mild. We become frigid little beings at a mere 35 degrees… a surely welcomed temperature for those of you braving the Midwest and beyond. We do have to layer, yes… but our layers are a bit lighter and more forgiving. Down parkas and ear muffs aren’t a necessity, though we do love escaping somewhere/anywhere they are (grass is always greener syndrome?). Here I took of my favorite Free People dresses and layered them appropriately for a current California December. Read More
