It’s been 1 week since we’ve been back from Coachella and I am having massive withdrawal symptoms. I’ve been shifting through my pictures and reminiscing almost every day.
One thing’s for sure the music was insane and fueled a lot of inspirational thought, from fashion to feeling.
These are some bands I am aspiring to at the moment. Individualism makes me tick and these guys sure have it.
Coachella has been a blast for us and we’re hoping these become a more frequent topic of conversation on the blog. Anyone going to upcoming festivals, we’d love to know?
Coachella is done and dusted and yes I am so sad. Nothing beats the epic adventure of a Festival, it’s like you morph into another world for a couple of days then your transported right back into reality.
Our last day started off again, with another amazing cooked breakfast – french toast!
A guy was staying with us who was out of this world ( he’s the one that has been making us 5* feasts every morning) – A nut bag at night/incredible host by day ( he’s the one dancing like a crazy fool above with the head band on).
We tend to take it easy in the day and head into the festival @ 4 because we know for sure alot of energy is going to be needed. So yep Yogo and lazing by the pool were the activities that took up most of our afternoon.
We got dressed up and headed to soak up the last evening of Coachella. The girls of Sunday were very relaxed, denim shorts, cute tops and loose dresses. My favourite looks of the day were the two girls wearing dresses, wayfarers, Dr Martins and Converses and yep there was hundred girls wearing Free People again.
Headliners of the night Thom Yorke and aaaahhhhhhhhh GORILLAZ!!! didn’t disappoint, as you can expect from Gorillaz the animations were on another level and Thom Yorke really made us dance our souls away.
At the end of the evening everyone stampeded to the exit, cheering with little sad faces as Coachellla has yet again proved to be an awesome festival.
Coachella I want you every year!!!
Thanks for following my news feeds and I hope Free People can bring to you more Festivals in the future.
Only one more day left, and im already feeling a little blue, its going to be hard to leave this fun land.
Saturday was one of our Fp girl’s birthdays and of course we celebrated in style. Woke up to a champagne breakfast, which after a night of heavy dancing was the best thing ever!
We chilled out on the patio soaking in the sun rays then headed into the festival giggling to cheesy pop in the car. Parked in VIP then snap happy me got to work. The look for Saturday was definitely long dresses (the Meadows were out in full force) loads of girls were wearing feathers tied in their hair too, which i thought was pretty cute.
An inspirational idea i had from the girls here was to wear the cute lingerie slips with denim shirts an idea i might just steal!
It was so nice to see a lot of people recycling their Free People shopping bag too and using it as a great festival bag, i was also choked to see a guy sporting one and still managing to look cool!
The music of the night made me so proud to be British…
Hot Chip, The XX ( oh oh oh Jay-Z came on and collaborated with them, which was beyond amazing) and headliner of the night MUSE. Geeeezzzzz Louise the MUSE was incredible – a great performance that blow me off the face of the earth. A visual masterpiece with the sickest light show ever!
Got back to the villa feeling pretty dazed – an amazing day!
It was a long drive from Santa Monica to Indio where Coachella is held the traffic was crazy but worth it when we finally arrived at the La Quinta resort. Wow Weeee it was beautiful like a little Mexico getaway. We threw our bags in our room and headed into the Californian Sun drenched music land
The festival was like a free people summer camp, I couldn’t believe my eyes so many girls were wearing Free People and looking adorable in it too J
The most seen items were the; Ends in Sequin Dress, the long maxi dresses and the Bag for Coachella was no doubt the studded side sling bag!
My look of the day was the girl above in the yellow crochet dress; she had the look spot on!!!
After stalking the Style Savvy crowd we headed to see Passion Pit perform and yes we danced so hard, the warm desert breeze came as the sun went down ready for LCD Sound system and of course headliner of the night Jay-Z who finished off the night with a storm, bringing Beyonce onto the stage wasn’t a bad idea either everyone went wild.
Happy thoughts-àsleep
Stay tuned!
We are obsessed here @ home office with the body con,and also a little obbsessed with Alexa Chung. I’ve got all excited about styling tips for this very versatile little number.
I’m the type of girl who doesn’t like the look too ‘Ginger’ (Fp’s term for the Sexy girl) So I play down any item I have that might scream Wowzer! With quirky accessories and layering.
Rock Vintage T’s, playful jewelry and messy / dreaded hair are details that will tag along with my body con. However if I had a body like our models below… Sure I’d Rock out in one all day everyday!
April kicked off with a beautiful Easter weekend and our direct business kicked off with a beautiful visual – Sweet Jasmine which is out story for April.
Here’s the mindset:
A girl’s life captured through accidental snapshots, a memoir…
Reminiscent of a girl who has just come back from a well-travelled journey in Asia. She’s brought back with her a beautiful wise story full of depth and emotion. She’s pinned her thoughts in photos, incidentals that are placed together creating a feeling of solitude and luminosity.
Sweet jasmine was born through Asian watercolor landscape and simple floral illustrations. Think apple branches, lotus flowers, daisies and doves, made up of cool blues, royals, pinks and purples as well as minty greens and Chinese red. Pretty/sweet elements are toned down with crude/rough collages of graph and ripped paper. Branches and pencil detail contribute to a flux of affection.
Portraits of flat shot clothes have charm, while beautiful wallpaper backdrops animate a soft feminine feel.
Its official Isabel Lucas is a true Free People style icon. Her cherub beauty and wholesome girl next door attitude brings a sparkle to our everyday whenever we see a picture of her.
She’s come a long way since her Home and away Days, don’t you think? Gracing numerous magazine editorials – French Jalouse, Australian Vogue, Nylon, styled by Erin Wasson for an American Elle story, staring in blockbuster movies and seen hanging out with super hot guys (Adrian Greiner). Geezzzzzzz you kinda make me envy you!
But we love her, and it’s only fair that we give tribute to her style because I must admit I think I stalk her every day.
Isabel come to our office and play dress up in our closets!
The popularity of the Boyfriend Pant has just risen. The Spring/Summer 2010 runway trends(thanks Chloe, thanks Balmain, and THANK YOU Balenciaga)has brought a cool vibe to the much loved – “throw on your boyfriend pants and grab a carton of milk morning scenario”
The best way to wear this look is to roll up the cuffs just a little over your ankles, pair with sandals or wedges.Wear pretty tops to avoid looking to ‘Boy’ and layer your jewelry.
Cropped leathers and denim jackets also work a wonder on this look too!
Androgynous dressing is a look to inhabit, and I’m sure you can take this trend into Fall too.
We have just launched a Boyfriend Pant shop of all our amazing styles we have at the moment.
Coachella is blowing fire into my hearty heart. Every morning when I arrive at my desk in work, I find myself subconsciously clicking onto the Coachell website just to remind myself of the days that remain. It’s now down to 18 days and I really need to start controlling myself. Otherwise I’m going to be hospitalised before I even step on the plane.
We’re going to be heading there to do a Festival Free People Style Stalk, which is going to be amazing and hopefully be great inspiration for everyone who reads our blog, and follows us on facebook and twitter!
So, me being from England, I’m used to festivals such as Glastonbury which = Wellies, raincoats, lots of mud, and fuzzy hair. I believe Coachella is an epic contra to this. So Im taking a note out of Bleach Black’sbook:
“Think comfort first. It gets HOT AS *%@# out there…. expect to see lots of lingerie. Bring a bikini or some sort of swimwear. I promise, at some point, you’ll end up in a pool. Headpieces (hats/headdresses/turbans…). Plan on integrating at least one of these“
My survival kit will begain with Moroccan Oil, the heat will sure make my hair go tiger wild so I need to tame it, just incase I cause some serious damage while swinging it around!
Document, document, document the Diana F and Polaroid Land will be my BFF.
Everyone needs to have a dress up outfit for a festival, so I’m thinking feather makeup and headresses – A Noah’s Ark theme springs to mind.
Essie nail polish in every colour and some beautiful Free People items below. Now KOL “California Waiting” just got turned up!
Sweet dreams are made of this – What’s spring without some prettiness and romance. The whimsical season is here and the billowing chiffons are ready to come out. Feel light as a feather in lace, crochet and chiffons. Roughened up with denim, cargo and jersey. Here’s an inspiration round up of our Lace shop (click to go shop)
Who would have thought that Clogs could make such an impact on the fashion scene? They are the type of shoe I usually associated with Milkmaids and Amsterdam.
However, Karl Lagerfeld and Alexa Chung have caused a Storm in the market, by making The Clog look super cool. The models at Chanel’s Spring collection galloped down the runaway in these heavy footed clogs and Alexa has been seen looking mighty fine in them ever since.
We here at Free People fell in Love with them also. With this in mind I thought I would shine a light on the amazing selection we have here on the Free People site (click here). My favorite pair is the Charli Clog that I would wear with distressed boyfriend jeans, high-waisted skirts and pretty floral dresses. These are definitely the shoe off the summer!
