Post image for Meet Our New Yoga Instructor, Stacia Nero

It’s no secret that we love yoga at Free People… it might be one of our favorite ways to work out, and simultaneously clear the mind. We love it so much we even launched our own yoga line earlier this year, FP Movement!  I caught up with the new yoga instructor here at URBN, Stacia Nero, to learn more about her and the type of yoga she practices. I love what she has to say about how yoga has changed her life. I can definitely relate personally to her issues with anxiety and how yoga has helped alleviate this problem. Read on for an interview with Stacia and stay tuned because she’ll be demonstrating some of her favorite yoga poses here on the blog and explaining what they do and why they’re so beneficial!  Read more »

Hi Julia, great post. I'm interested in the mental health aspect that Yoga covers, particularly its effects on the different brain waves tied to meditation. Do you think you could do a research-based post on the scientific proof behind Yoga's benefits? I love the flow in this piece, and the pictures look stunning. Let me know what you think, thanks!

Stacia Nero is the best yoga teacher in this city...

Thanks for another informative website. Where else could I get that type of information written in such a perfect way? I've a mission that I am simply now running on, and I've been at the look out for such info.

Will bugs come out of the bathtub if you wash down the honey from the tub?? So worried!

We love nail art, but now that we have our own Free People Nail Polish our obsession has been taken to the next level! Great post! Is the Winterfell ring Sterling Silver? Or just silver color? I just ordered it, and realized it didn't say 925 silver in the description. If it isn't real silver I will have to return it, because my hands are always in water. ANY help is appreciated!!! Thank you. ~A

Hi, Sarah... Sure, not everyone likes summer or the heat, but SAD therapy can be applied with a light therapy box and doesn't involve heat or sweating or anything like that. I highly recommend getting a SAD light and there is research that suggests that taking Vitamin D helps as well. You can learn more about Seasonal Affective Disorder at http://www.sadlamps.org

Hello there... Just curious, but what about those of us who cannot stand summer. I despise sweating and feeling uncomfortable all summer long....summer is my mood killer. Guess moving to the mountains would be my best bet? : )

Post image for Holiday Makeup Tutorial: Golden Eyes

Holiday makeup can sometimes be overwhelming, either it’s too heavy or you just don’t know what kind of makeup actually goes with your perfect dress. For this season we love a simple gold eye that has a soft bit of magic to it, whether it’s just a simple gold shimmery eyelid or something a little extra special with glitter. Here, one of the girls at our home office shows us how to archive a simple gold eye. We’re definitely taking notes. Are you?! Read more »

I’ve noticed lately that my eyes are looking a little aged. Every time I look in the mirror I see small crow’s feet, faint dark circles, and sometimes they are a little puffy.  It isn’t worrying me too much as I know aging comes with life, but I do want to make a conscious effort to maybe try to delay the hands of time by using good skin practices. Post image for 5 Natural Cures For Sleeplessness

It’s 4 o’clock in the morning. Your eyelids are the heaviest they’ve felt in weeks. All you want to do is drift off into a peaceful, dreamy sleep, yet somehow, you’re lying in bed, wide awake. Read more »

I have suffered from bad sleeplessness for ages but then my yoga teacher taught me something last week that has helped me so so much. You simply lie down on your back and put your legs up vertically against a wall. It is also nice to have a cushion just underneath your lower back. Close your eyes and put your hands on your stomach and just lie there like that for 5 minutes. What happens is all the blood eventually comes down from your feet and legs into your upper body which makes you more relaxed and sleepy. I do this right before bed, it works wonders :)
Kelly -Nov 02, 2012, 11:54PM
What helps me sleep is my room being as peaceful as possible. I don't have a computer or t.v. in my room. I feel like without those distractions it helps calm my mind. For me, just having a computer near by makes me think I still could still be working on it. So with it out of sight I can rest and not think about it. If I am still having trouble sleeping, listening to music on my ipod helps. Putting on some relaxing songs brings on the zzz's.
