UPDATE: This post originally ran on July 7, 2012, but as we’re starting to feel little hints of cooler fall weather, we’re getting the urge to cozy up inside our homes — and what better a thing to do inside the comfort of your own home than practice yoga?!
Doing yoga at home rules. Of course it’s awesome to practice in a studio with a class to motivate you and a skilled instructor to make sure you’re reaching your potential, but there’s something so relaxing about being able to just unwind and set yourself free in a space you can call your own. We’re closing in on the first week of September and that means that it’s time to start embracing fall full-force! If you’re not already in the mood for fall, let me give you a little nudge: red, orange, and yellow leaves falling gracefully to the ground in the light, cool breeze. Skinny jeans with thick, cozy socks; light jackets; and scarves thrown loosely around your neck. Read more »
Have you guys heard of air plants? I had heard about them in the past, but had sort of forgotten about them until I visited interior designer Phoebe Schuh’s home. She had just one air plant sitting in a glass on her kitchen table and I fell in love all over again: Read more »
I love having an eclectic kitchen. When I buy plates, bowls, glasses, and silverware, I usually only buy one of each piece (which is easy enough if you’re getting it all from a thrift store!) – I love being able to mix everything up, with no two pieces the same. Read more »
I always look forward to the change in seasons when new displays go up in our stores. Every time, they take my breath away and provide so much inspiration for unique home décor. Our fall displays this year remind me of an enchanted forest with twinkling lights, trees climbing towards the ceilings, shimmering leaves and splashes of magical watercolor. Read more »
Last week we had the pleasure of visiting the (gorgeous) home of Philadelphia-based interior designer Phoebe Schuh of PS & Daughters. What I love most about Phoebe’s home is that it’s so much more than pretty things carefully arranged in pretty ways. Read more »
Over the last couple of weeks I have been gathering cacti for my home and have fallen in love with the obscure looking plants. Usually a crush is relatively short-lived; a few short days… maybe a couple months, max. Nope. Not my crush on terrariums. These little ecosystems are beyond appealing to me. The way that life in a terrarium can carry on its existence with little or no help from the outside world is just so cool! Not to mention the fact that terrariums can be made with the prettiest of plants in the coolest of glass containers – and that they’re so easy to make (here’s our terrarium DIY, in case you haven’t seen it)! My little terrarium infatuation has led me to countless hours of terrarium-infused internet searches. If you’re like me, these photos may just help you get that terrarium fix:
We are loving the Military/Victorian trend at Free People right now. Everywhere you look you’ll see ivory vintage tops paired back to structured, rugged bottoms and jackets. Being the décor fiend that I am, I see absolutely no reason why this trend shouldn’t be incorporated into the aesthetic of your home! Here’s some inspiration for creating a décor color palette based on two important colors: army and ivory. Read more »
One of the best parts about being at a party is taking photos. Of course you can look your best, eat the most delicious food, laugh your head off, and dance until you collapse, but without photos it’s hard to truly feel how great of a time you had once the time has passed and you’re looking back on the event. Enter the photo booth backdrop. Read more »
Everyone loves to add a little boho to their spaces now and again. Whether it’s a spring clean, rearranging objects, or creating lovely wall displays, décor refreshes your mind and captures a new light in the home.
