always measure your rope 3 times the size you want your length of project when finished! I am starting a similar piece today I don't even measure unless it's something like a lets say a frog that holds a towel and soap then yea have to I am cutting 20 cords ( for width ) at least room length long to make a wall hanging for all my birds to climb on! I am using hemp rope so if they chew on it it won't hurt them! I love using natural ropes and hemp rather than nylon even if pattern calls for nylon. I hope to post pics later today on progress! I love this idea and mine strtred from seeing this one!

Friendship bracelets have always given me a sentimental feeling — they can bring back thoughts that might be easily lost. Just by looking at them I feel a lot of warmth close to my heart. In this post I’ll show you how to make a simple summer friendship bracelet for yourself or your friends. Read more »

Post image for Decor DIY: Painted Glass Bottles

I’ve been accumulating a lot of glass bottles lately…I always tend to pick them up at flea markets or if I come across one in a store. I love the way plain glass bottles look, but I decided I wanted to give my apartment a pop of color by coating the inside of some of the bottles with paint and creating a little display. This is such an easy project and the results are beautiful! Read more »

Can you put water and flowers in them after they are painted? Will it wash off? Will it kill the flowers?

Respectfully, this is an ugly example of a beautiful tradition. It doesn't take much effort to come up with a nice exterior. You can start with a bit more equal size petals, scallops, fringe-like cuts into the paper. It doesn't need to be perfect, simply a bit more thought into a cool project that brings smiles to those celebrating.

Post image for DIY Citronella Candles For Summer

One of the best things about warmer weather is throwing parties outside! Read more »

Trish -Jul 21, 2014, 6:59AM
@Chris : yes you can do this much cheaper by going to second hand shops etc but for someone who has never done it before they are better off by getting the right things in the beginning, gaining confidence in what they are doing and then look at how to do it much cheaper.I do it much cheaper now but i make candles and melts anyway but friends save jars and suitable containers for me,they also save their left over candles for me to recycle. Yes you can use crayola crayons to colour the candles but sometimes you can get a residue on the top,but if you are doing them for yourself this rearly doesn't matter.I have just poured a lot of citronella candles, just waiting for them to set then will be giving them to friends as just at the moment flies are a pest both inside and out.
Chris -Jun 22, 2014, 9:25AM
Hate to throw a wrench in the works, but soy is horrible for us! Yes, you are not ingesting the candle however, when it burns you are breathing in whatever burns off in the air. Just an FYI. Also, you can use old candles to make new ones! Put them in a coffee can, put that in a pot of water over a low flame and as it melts, you can pick any debris out. Much cheaper than buying wax as you can always get candles at thrift stores. You can also use a heavy cotton thread or yarn as a wick. Tie a small washer to the end and drop it into your container. So many great ways to do DIY projects much more cheaply than buying new products!!!!
