i love the relaxed, hippie vibe of the wanderlust style! captured by one of our awesome fp girls :)
when our team returned from morocco after shooting our latest catalog and shared all of their photos, i was completely blown away. the desert setting in the photos almost looked unreal – like something out of a dream. their experience shooting this book must have been incredible and these behind the scenes photos give you a glimpse of what it was like…
our team flew into marrakesh, and from there they traveled to morocco’s “hollywood town” of ouarzazate. they then drove seven hours into the desert, arriving in the dark of night. when they woke up, this is what they saw:
they had the option of sleeping in the tents, or outside!

tired from a long day.
big thanks to our producer for these photos :)
shop the catalog here.
our august catalog is here! i’ve already told you about two of the models in this book, klara wester and hind sahli, but i failed to mention the other model – the camel!
our team named the beautiful “free people” camel who graces the cover and pages of our catalog janis joplin :)
i think the name suits her, don’t you?
the reason they thought to call her that is because the other two camels, who our team got to ride, were named jimi hendrix and bob marley!
i believe that’s jimi on the left and bob on the right :)
the urban outfitters interns organized a pop up shop over in building 543 today – they had apparel, accessories and stuff for the home at really low prices, sort of like the sample sales that we have for employees every once and a while. all proceeds are going to bike works. i think they did a great job and i scored some awesome finds! here are a few pics…
here are the items i picked up:
they match perfectly! unintentional :) i kindof want to wear the above four items together is that wierd?
i love the shorts. thanks urban interns!
The sales have hit the stores and the Fall collections are slowly creeping in, already?! Yup I know!
It’s rather exciting though, I really like it when the transition time in fashion comes around. You can start fresh and experiment with new looks.
This weekend I fondled the runway shows to see what was cooking on the trends department. There’s a couple of key looks happening for Fall but the two that I’m liking the most are the “man up” look and the “Long View” as categorized by style.com
The sound of light weight, slightly oversized silk, satin and chiffon shirts combined with blazers, cardigans, waisted belts and the MUST HAVE for FALL long mesh or chiffon skirts.
Girls are going crazy over the maxi skirts and I’m one of them. They give a very elegant silhouette that I’m somewhat addicted to.
Below are some of the lovely skirts that are available at Free People and the looks the designers are running down the runway.
to celebrate the start of our countdown until vintage loves, we broke out the old fisher price record player in the office today – and it actually still works! i had one of these when i was little and i now want to go dig it up.
our beloved customer service manager is pictured on this year’s eagles season tickets! to show their appreciation for their biggest fans, the eagles put their photos on the tickets, saying “we reached out to you to share your eagles stories with us and we were touched by the depths of your passion for eagles football. all ten of this year’s tickets feature fans with a unique perspective on what it means to be an eagles fan.”
bob’s story? “i painted E-A-G-L-E-S on my neighbor’s roof for the planes flying overhead. now did she know about it? well…”
i love it! bob will also get to be on the field at game one to start off the eagles chant :)
the last photo was taken by our videographer and is such a great shot it was posted on jeffrey campbell’s blog!
i’m all about slips right now. they’re light and airy for summer and perfect for carrying over into fall and winter as layering pieces. i have my eye on a couple of these… which one is your favorite?

the winner of last week’s poll was the vintage mandala bag with 42%!
this week i thought i’d share these posts fp jemma put together about what our stylists are into right now!
first, our assistant stylist:
I am going through a fashion rut right now – I just want to start styling for fall already and start layering! These are some things that I currently love for fall…
Rag and Bone Fall 10
Knee socks, fairisle sweaters, great wovens. Tons of layering. Gothic jewelry. Very much inspired by the Craft right now.
Erin Wasson from November 2006
and our associate stylist:
So I’m currently obsessing over an array of things! Fall is just around the corner and my closet could use some fresh new pieces! Top on my list is crazy big vintage bell bottoms (the bigger the better) and funky graphic tees! I need need need these custom hand knitted bell bottoms from the Etsy designer, Jane Oh.
I’m also loving the lingerie as outerwear trend that happening right now! It’s a great transitional trend that can easily be updated for fall with over the knee socks, big chunky sweaters and boots!
Can I also just say how freakin cool all the August accessories are!! We can’t wait to style with all the Navajo inspired jewelry, bags, and shoes!! Some of my favorite Fall 2010 runway shows so far are Sonia Rykiel (personal fav) and of course Ana Sui with her crazy color palate, mix of texture and print and those crazy printed tights! Oh yeah and last but not least….def jumping on that funky color hair trend! Just need to decide what color…blue or purple??? Ok, I’m rambling now…gotta go!
