How To Style FP Thermals: 5 Ways to Wear

Did you feel it? I felt it…

The chill in the air this morning. No, summer is not over just yet, but fall is definitely creeping in. And that means time to break out the thermals.

FP thermals are my favorite – they always fit perfectly, come in the best colors, and best of all they always have something unique either in the shape or the detailing, that sets them apart and makes them interesting. We have several thermal styles right now so we thought we’d have a little fun and make a video showing different ways to style thermals! They can be worn with shorts (and tights in fall!), skinny jeans, widelegs, tea-length skirts, you name it. Check out the video, which features some of our lovely home office gals!

Store Style: The Extreme Vintage Flares

One of our favorite fashion trends going into fall is the wideleg pant. We have several wideleg styles right now, including one of my personal favorites, the extreme vintage flares (and their new cousin, the extreme corduroy flare!). These jeans can be a little intimidating if you don’t now how to style them, and luckily our store girls are here to help out with just that! They always have great styling ideas, and these photos demonstrate our love for another trend as well – the crop top! In particular, one of our newest, cutest ones – the thermal love crop top. We love pairing wideleg bottoms with cropped tops, adding extra layers over top or underneath as the weather gets cooler.

Trend Spotting: Monochromatic Street Style

Monochromatic dressing is one of our favorite fall fashion trends – we love the idea of outfitting from head-to-toe in shades of color that amplify a certain mood or feeling. Jemma and Naomi worked with our senior photographer to capture some monochromatic street style right here at the navy yard! Here’s how we would wear this trend:

In this look: open stitch pullover, fp skinny cords, archduchess platform, tina patched satchel.

Fall Fashion Trends: Monochromatic Color Palette

After the light and dreamy summer fabrics in pastels and muted shades, the colors of fall always seem so rich and bold. This year is certainly no exception, but we’re taking it a step further: make a fashion statement this fall by stepping out in head-to-toe emerald, mustard, maroon, cerulean, or whatever color you are feeling that day. Wearing one color from head to toe is daring – chances are you will be noticed as you walk down the street, but when it’s done well it’s perfectly chic and fashionable. Break up a monochromatic ensemble with a little dash of black or beige to lessen the dramatic look or go all out and make that fashion statement. Here’s a look at some of our favorite shades of color to wear from head-to-toe this fall!

Thursday Poll: La Dolce Vita

I’m in love with our new August lookbook that just dropped this week. Titled, La Dolce Vita, it literally means “the sweet life” – and it is exactly that. The rich colors, elegant details, and luxe fabrics make me want to escape to a chateau in the brisk cool of fall. Once I was there, I’d put my feet up and munch on elegant sweets just because I could. If you were able to pull together any one of these looks, what would be your outfit for living La Dolce Vita?

About a Girl: Amy Soderlind of San Francisco

Not long before I went to San Francisco for Outside Lands, one of my co-workers sent me a link to a blog that she thought was worth checking out, called Refuses to Label. I clicked on the link and spent the next hour or so perusing the inspirational posts and photos on the blog. The writer, Amy Soderlind, is a stylist and writer living right outside of San Francisco on a beautiful farm. Her style is impeccable and I love her poetic way of writing – check out some photos below, along with a writeup about what she loves most about her city.

San Francisco carries character and integrity in every little crevasse of her small size. Take a walk and in just two blocks you are in another world. New smells, subcultures that I must sit and appreciate, really take in. I go nowhere without my note/sketch pad, and I do say: the most incredible quotes come from some of the crazies on the morning MUNI rides. I love that I can get from one end of the city to the other in less than 30 minutes.

The history that she holds also brings many like minded free spirits to live and create… the Beat Generation AND the Summer of Love?  yes please.

Taking Sundays to myself… City Lights Books, Trieste and Vesuvio: reels playing in my mind of Kerouac perusing the shelves and writing on the small table tops… Ginsberg spitting out words and phrases that still blow our minds today. The De Young or MOMA…. and yes, the many many beautiful small ma and pa vintage shops that I tend to spend far too much time in.

My favorite thing about this city? The beautiful people that are apart of my life here…. extraordinary talents that make my life rich with happiness.

Dressing in San Francisco is a year round challenge. Our summers are in October (for 3 short weeks) and the rest of the year is unpredictable with certainty of daily fog. I actually love this very variable when it comes to dressing – You can wear boots! Socks! Hats! Scarves! Jeans! Layers…. opens up doors of options that usually are shut tightly in August.
