even though our stores all get the same seasonal displays, there are always little touches our fp girls put into each one to make it unique. our new pittsburgh free people looks incredible, right down the tiny little details…
welcome to steel city!
i love all the oddly-angled beams. as for the scarves, our display team dyed and hand-panted each one themselves!
i adore this wall! it has such a great vintage, fifties feel.
and perhaps my favorite part, this suitcase filled with trinkets is amazing! i would love to do this as a way of commemorating a special trip…take the suitcase you used on the trip and adorn it with decorations and trinkets from your travels!
another gorgeous store! stay tuned because there’s one part i didn’t show you yet…
i mentioned last week that we opened two new stores – one in houston and one in pittsburgh. they both debuted our new spring displays, making them a bright and inviting space beckoning for people to step out of the cold and inside their doors. our display team blows me away every time – this spring’s combination of strips of fabric in cheerful easter-egg shades, parasols and colorfully patch-worked suitcases is like a warm burst of sunshine for the soul.
here are some images from houston:
the scarves sewn together remind me of prayer flags!
this suitcase “sculpture” is beyond amazing…the suitcases are covered with fabric and dripping with trinkets that the free people girl has picked up on her travels.
beautiful work, display team! stay tuned for pittsburgh photos later this week.
hats… whether it’s sun hats or fedoras they’re without a doubt my favorite accessory. i’m actually rarely without one. we have some seriously awesome hats right now, the only problem is deciding which one i want! which one do you guys like best?
i hear chicago had quite the snowstorm yesterday…one of our fp girls sent along these great photos and said she and her roommate, who also works for fp, were snowed in with drifts up past the windowsills and no shovel – the fp store was even closed!
she wrote that they have a rule with every catalog: save one to cut up, and one to keep (i do the same thing girls!). so, being stuck at home, she decided to use old catalogs to make valentines! love this idea, might have to steal it…
one of our fp girls out on the west coast sent me these adorable photos that i had to share…
our so-cal DVM had a day at her daughter’s school called “occupation celebration” where she talked to the kids about her awesome job at FP – she dressed up the girls like mannequins and chatted all about being a district visual manager – how cute?!
and this is claude, a new pup belonging to our visual manager on the west coast! above is claude as an itty bitty pup, and here is is on his first fp store visit, in santa monica:
we have another new lookbook up online! “la boheme” is a gorgeous mix of airy fabrics, soft colors, crochet, animal and floral prints. it’s romantic and sweet and i could easily see these outfits floating down the streets of paris. which one is your favorite?

one of our designers celebrated a birthday yesterday and how lovely is this spread some of our fp grils put together for her? fresh fruit, yogurt with honey, oats, cute cookies, cake and flowers…perfect! (raspberries…mmmmmm…my fave).
winter strikes again… a little over a foot fell in the city and i went for a little walk this morning and took some photos before beginning the trek down to the navy yard. i actually love the brief period of time after a large snowfall when everything is blanketed in white and the snow muffles the usual sounds of the city, creating a peaceful lull. people even seem to say hi on the street more often, offering a warm smile of commiseration for others out shoveling or trudging through snow up to their knees.
but don’t get me wrong, i am more than ready for spring! enough of this nonsense :)
have you guys checked out our january lookbook, featuring french blogger miss pandora? i love it – it doesn’t hurt to have the beautiful city of paris as the backdrop :) which look do you guys love most?
