quirky but incredibly cute! an fp girl who works in one of our stores sent me the following…
“on friday i got promoted from the part-time MIT to full-time MIT and one of the associates said congrats with the cutest little present – an old glass jar filled with pink flowers & broccoli! … so strange but so fitting, i love flowers, and broccoli is my favorite food ever. i thought i’d share these pictures with you because i’ve never seen anyone arrange something like this before, and it made me smile!”
i’ve never seen anything like that either! so original and sweet. thanks for sharing :)
coming to work this morning was really exciting – we left work on friday having packed up all our stuff and said goodbye to building 15 – and we came in today to a brand new building. i am still completely blown away – the people who designed and decorated this new space did an unbelievable job, and i am in awe that this is where i get to work.
i thought saturday at the xpn festival would be tough to top but sunday just might have… the weather could not have been better and the bands were amazing. i was fortunate enough to have a media pass so i was able to watch the shows from a spot directly in front of the stage – i have tons of great photos to share! but for now here are some photos of the atmosphere on sunday…
we took the ferry over to camden from penn’s landing – definitely the way to go! you get some great views of the philly skyline and ben franklin bridge.
i spy a free people bag!
jade of edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros! she’s adorable.
sunset during the dr. dog show- so pretty.
darkness sets in as robert randolph takes the stage to close out a wonderful day :)
yesterday was a beautiful day – perfect to spend sitting outside on the waterfront listening to some good music at the xpn music festival…
the walkmen and yo la tengo were both fantastic, and i got to sit and chat with diane birch (pictured above) who is a really talented and sweet person, not to mention beautiful! i will have that interview here on the blog shortly but today i’m off to the festival again- dr. dog, edward shapre & the magnetic zeros and robert randolph play today, i can’t wait!
this is such a cool idea! “life in a day” is a cinematic experiment produced by ridley scott and directed by kevin macdonald, together with the youtube community. the goal is to capture a snapshot, through many different eyes, of what life is like on earth during one 24 hour period. how are they going to do this?
they are asking YOU – anybody and everybody – to chronicle their life on one day, july 24 2010. this could be your daily routine, your job, what you’re afraid of, what you love, a pretty sunset, ANYTHING. you can then upload your video on the project’s website, and the most compelling and distinctive videos will be edited into the final feature film. the film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2011 – and if your video is used, you’ll be credited as a co-director and have a shot at being one of 20 people who gets to go to sundance to celebrate with kevin macdonald.
ummm…..wow? i’m curious, what would your film be about?
one of my favorite music festivals is taking place this weekend! the XPoNential music festival is an annual three-day festival put together by the university of pennsylvania’s public radio station, WXPN. it’s pretty much the only radio station i listen to- not because i went to school there, but because they play the BEST music. i cannot tell you how many new bands i have discovered through them. anyway this year i think they have put together their best lineup yet! here are some of the bands playing:
grace potter & the nocturnals; the felice brothers
yo la tengo; the walkmen
these united states; blood feathers
dawes; robert randolph & the family band
dr. dog; edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros
the festival is held at wiggins park, a really cute spot on the waterfront in camden. they have lots of local vendors, good food, good people- and the best part is how small the festival is. the first time i went i got to meet jim james from my morning jacket at the side of the stage – really exciting for me since they’re one of my favorite bands. can’t wait for this weekend! i will be taking lots of photos for the blog, so stay tuned.
and here is a playlist of songs by the bands listed above!
