Have you seen the New York Times’ recent little slide show of different black lacy tights and stockings? It’s been passed around the home office lately, and it’s been keeping my mind on black lacy tights! We have quite a few varieties of lacy tights right now, and I’d be interested to know which ones you like the most!
Shown below are our Creeping Flowers Crochet Tights.

Here we have our Patterned Pointelle Tights.

Shown here are the Snuggly Pointelle Socks!
Below are our Diamond Crochet Tights.
Finally, shown here are our Brassy Studded Tights! I know they’re not lacy, but we couldn’t resist throwing them in there to see what you thought of them!
Now I put it to you: which of these do you prefer?

the ice tree

I love this “ice tree” created by Paprika for Domison furniture stores in Canada. Trying for holiday decorations that were more original, Paprika hung glass water bottles at various heights to create this ice tree. Why didn’t I think of that?
Via Yatzer.

Anna has been busy at the showroom preparing for the holiday. She’s handsewing names on stockings for everyone in the NY office! Later they’ll be filled with treats:)
Check out this entry for more of Anna’s handtouches at the showroom

sweet felt advent

For those who use an advent calendar during the holiday season, I sure thought this was a cute one! Brooke, author of the blog inchmark, made it out of felt for herself and family to use. I absolutely love that for each day there is a little ornament to hang on the buttons of the tree! It’s such a fabulous idea! And a fun craft project too!

This is so cute! I was going to pass along to some people in my family, but I think I might keep it to myself for next year:)

The Thursday Poll is back! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving last week!
This week, I am wondering what everyone prefers as far as shoe types!
Shown below is the Barcode Ankle Flat in grey suede, which is a nice example of a flat.

Next we have the Lotus Flannel Sneaker in cool grey/white – a comfy little sneaker!

Shown here is our Linus Riding Boot in brown suede, exemplifying, as you might guess, boots!
Serving as our example of a wedge or heel, shown below is the Krystal Wrap Wedge in expresso.
And now I put it to you: what type of shoe do you prefer to wear?

Lola -Jan 08, 2009, 5:34PM
great idea with the tied flats. luv it!

RE the grey flats... Were those a bit too big for the model, or do they really have that much toe cleavage? They look like there is an awful lot of room at the top, meaning they would slide on the foot... I love the ties around the ankles, though.

It’s beginning to look a lot more like the holiday season here at the Home Office!

These awesome yarn trees appeared in Building 543 yesterday! They are a lot more tall than the photos suggest!

They are each a bit different from one another.
Santa has decided to keep one of his spare sleighs at Building 543 – an excellent sleigh-garage.
Here we have our friend Luren enjoying her lunch beside the goldfish pond.
Walking a little farther, we come to my favorite take on the yarn trees – a yarn tree dress! Wouldn’t that be fun to wear?!

I’m loving the gift tag tutorials from A Little Hut. My favorite is tutorial #2 fabric + paper. The contrast of the straight edge of the paper and the soft frayed edges of the fabric is really appealing. And I always need a reason to use up fabric scraps!
Check out all of the Little Hut tutorials (there are more gifty ones)

Planning on going to a Free People store soon? Starting this Monday, December 1st, customers who bring in their old Free People shopping bags to use when they shop will receive a free gift! You could receive a Free People Measuring Tape, a set of Free People Hair Clips, or one of our other fun treats! (Note: One free gift per customer per day.)
This promotion will run until we are out of gifts, but we would like to encourage our customers to always reuse their bags each time they shop at Free People!

Hellooo fp blog! I was wondering - do your boutiques ever display independent artists works up in the store? I am a photographer and I do a lot of alternative process techniques that revolve around nature. I was just picturing them next to all the beautiful artworks of clothing fp offers and got excited, so I thought I'd ask!

FP Holiday Playlist!

We have yet another fun holiday diversion for you! I recently went around and asked everyone here at the home office for their favorite holiday or wintertime songs! We have put them together on a playlist for you, which you can access by clicking here. Please note however, that you need to have iTunes installed on your computer to be able to view the playlist. We have been experimenting with different ways to put up playlists for you, so we of course welcome any feedback!
At any rate, check out the playlist! It includes over 30 songs, including this awesome classic sung by Eartha Kitt below…

It’s the day after Thanksgiving, and the holiday season has officially started! We are already getting excited, and our graphic designers have created a little holiday card for you to use! Click here to be taken to a page where you can download and print it! Once you print it, simply cut along the dotted lines, then fold it in half, and half again! Presto- cute little holiday card!

This is the most adorable card. I will print mine out by the hundreds! I love the Free People hand-drawn style!

In preparation for Thanksgiving tomorrow, we passed around a couple sheets of paper and drew or wrote down what we are thankful for, just for fun! The papers ended up looking really cool, and it was neat to see what everyone put!
What are you thankful for?

-Nov 26, 2008, 2:45PM
it's so nice to give thanks...
