Just wondering...are you supposed to eat the pomegranate seeds? I would find it annoying to have to spit them out while trying to eat this lovely salad.

These look amazing! I have limited kitchen access tomorrow with family coming over... What part of the recipe can be made in advance and be stored overnight?

Carrie - cashews make a creamier purée than almonds. Can you have Macadamias? They're a good sub for cashews.

Post image for 5 Reasons To Love Kale (+ Kale Chips Recipe)

It seems that kale has become one of the popular kids these days. Just a few years ago I had never even heard of it, and now it’s consistently the first vegetable on my food shopping list each week. Different foods can certainly become fads for a period of time, but I personally don’t think kale is one of them. Read more »

I love kale. I did't know you could plant it inside. I live about 40 minutes from the nearest store so it would be nice to grow my own. I keep meaning to make Kale chips but I always forget and use it for every other dish that we eat.

Do you refill it with water after you rinse every time? Definitely need to do this! Winters in Canada are terrible, so having some fresh, homegrown sprouts would be magical.

I'm eating this right now, along with my 1-year-old baby. He loves it just as much as I do. My house smells amazing from the roasted garlic. I added a tiny sprinkling of grated Parmesan Romano cheese on top. I also used walnuts because I didn't have walnuts and arugula in place of spinach because it was what I had on hand. Delicious!
Emelyn -Oct 29, 2013, 10:54PM
I made this tonight and threw in some dried cranberries I had lying around. Definitely delicious enough to warrant an Instagram post ;)

Post image for How (& Why) To Cook Your Own Beans

Beans and other legumes are awesome. There are so many different types and so many different ways to incorporate them in meals that it’s almost impossible to get sick of them. Lentil soup, bean salad, and don’t even get me started on hummus. I always used to graze over the dry beans section of the food store and go straight for the canned. I had no idea how to cook dry beans — and canned just seemed like an easier option – but it turns out that it’s actually really simple to cook your own beans, and there are benefits to doing this, too. Hi, thanks for writing this great post! My first batch of homemade black beans is currently soaking, and I'm wondering if the beans need to be refrigerated while they soak or if they can sit on the counter?
meg -Oct 23, 2013, 12:25PM
if you cook beans with kombu/kelp in the water it helps your body absorb the nutrients they have to offer.
