ohgoodgolly this looks superdelicious! I love figs in any form but I do have a weakness for Sicilian fig filled cookies like my grandma used to make (but veganized). And vegan fig pop tarts. :) Thanks for the recipe!

Post image for Herb-Infused Olive Oil Recipes For Fall

Now that fall is on its way, it’s time to start thinking about all of those indoor activities that we love so much – especially cooking. This year we’re taking cooking up a notch by replacing our typical olive oil with a whole bunch of herb-infused olive oils. Read more »

I love infused olive with red pepper, rosemary and garlic. Your way of infuseing olive oil looks very intresting. I will surely try this once.

Can you tell me the shelf life of the infused oil?

Sorry for the typo what I meant is that the garbanzo beans look like chick peas.
Marise -Mar 17, 2014, 11:49PM
This soup sounds and looks delicious, however, what are garbanzo beans? Are they chic peas as we know them in Australia, they plonk like it. Looking forward to making this soup. Thanks

Post image for 5 Alkalizing Foods To Eat Every Day

Life is all about balance. Ying and yang; light and dark; work and play…and our bodies are no different. The human body is constantly striving to maintain a balanced pH level in the blood in order for it to survive. Read more »

Diana -Sep 01, 2013, 8:27PM
These foods all have wonderful nutritional benefits but it has nothing to do with blood pH... which is not affected by what you eat. Your body regulates pH through a balance of carbon dioxide and bicarbonate... an imbalance in pH results from serious medical issues like respiratory depression or kidney failure. I love this blog but implying that eating "alkalinizing foods" can cure "seeming incurable illnesses" is offensive to anyone with a basic medical education. Promoting the idea that "alkalinizing foods" will cure your illnesses is as irresponsible as promoting juice cleanses to "clear toxins"... which they don't. Kale is rich in fiber and vitamins, and is a great component of a well rounded diet. It doesn't need to have magical pH properties to be healthy

So glad to see that I am an avid eater of all of these! Especially lemon kale and cucumber! xo, Juliette Laura http://juliettelaura.blogspot.com http://www.etsy.com/shop/InfiniteStyleShop

The smell when baking this is amazing! Can't wait to try it in the morning, if I can wait that long :)
Cheer -Sep 06, 2013, 5:43AM
I am wondering if the apples in this granola make it necessary to refrigeration....I am not sure the baking time will be sufficient to avoid mold spores from the apples in a short time. Do the apples actually dry and crisp in that amount of baking, with all the moisture available I would probably opt to refrigerate the batch and also consume within a few days to avoid mold....

Post image for How To Make Tea

There is something really beautiful about tea…the scent, the dried herbs and flowers, and of course the taste.  In all of my years of drinking tea, I don’t know why I’ve never attempted to make my own blends.  Read more »

Beautiful pictures! Ceylon is one of my favorite black teas too. I tend to be a bit of a purist so I don't often do blending but these concoctions sound really tasty.
Macys -Jun 06, 2014, 11:17PM
I love tea, but have never tried making my own blend. I will definitely give it a go now. I have been inspired, thanks for interesting post, it 's really delicous - i think so

Kathy -Jan 13, 2014, 1:50PM
I am grain and dairy free and my 2 year old grand daughter is allergic to eggs. I adapted this recipe to meet our needs and to use up bits of different nut butters left in my fridge. I used 1/2 c cashew butter, 1/2 c walnut butter, 1/4 c pecan butter, for the egg, I substituted 1 T apple cider vinegar plus 1 t baking soda. This is in addition to the 1t baking soda called for in the recipe. I also added 1/2 t baking powder. Then followed the rest of the list of ingredients using maple syrup instead of honey. The mix was a little thin so, I put it in the fridge for 30 minutes before spooning it out onto my baking sheet. They turned out great. They puffed up in the oven while baking but fell quite flat as they cooled on the baking sheet. They are soft and sweet and wonderful and taste like the ones I've made using grains. I'm so happy and don't feel deprived now. Thank you for a wonderful recipe!
Pauline -Oct 08, 2013, 1:18AM
These were great! I have a friend who is allergic to dairy and gluten so these will be perfect. I actually left out the salt (I hate salt in baked goods), sugar, and chocolate chips (I'm a weirdo who hates them). I put in sliced almonds instead. I also only had some ground chia seeds so used those in place of the flaxseed.

Post image for Juice Recipe From Love Grace: Berry Chia Fresca

Today I have another delicious juice recipe to share from Love Grace – a company that specializes in delicious gourmet juices, smoothies, and elixirs.  Jake Mabanta, the founder of Love Grace, came up with this and the Super C Tonic we shared a couple of weeks ago exclusively for the blog!  This juice is a delicious blend of two of my favorite berries — strawberry and raspberry — along with chia seeds for added benefits. Chia seeds are a superfood and an excellent source of protein, fiber, antioxidants, and essential vitamins and minerals.  This beverage not only tastes amazing but is great for sustained energy as well — read on for the recipe!
