This "pie" was more like a "pile" but never the less it was very tasty
Leisa -Oct 06, 2014, 10:52AM
I turned out soooo good! I mixed the sauce with the apples first, then placed on the crust. I would say it turned out more like an apple crumble than pie, but super delicious. And it felt good eating it. No guilt. Thanks!

Post image for The Benefits Of Turmeric + How To Use It

Turmeric is a spice that has long sat on my spice rack looking lovely and golden, yet remaining largely unused. Recently however, I’ve been reading more and more about this exotic spice, which is thought to be one of the most beneficial and potent antioxidants in the world, and I’ve realized: It’s time to make turmeric a main ingredient.Read More

So many good ideas in the article and the comments!! Currently we use turmeric in a "vinegar and honey" drink before dinner. I am hoping that a facial scrub as mentioned above may help with my rosacia. Amanda's idea about "pills" gives me the idea to make a sort of turmeric candy/fudge to keep in the fridge. Thank you everybody!

Post image for The Ingredients For Fall: 5 Foods You Should Be Eating Now

What is it about fall that captures our hearts? Is it the welcome relief that cool air brings after a long and scorching summer? Or perhaps this collective seasonal obsession is more closely related to our memories of back to school shopping and diving head first into piles of red and orange leaves.Read More

Here's one of my favorite green smoothie recipes: handful of kale leaves, 1/4 of an avocado, splash of lemon juice, 2 pitted dates, 1/2 - 1 whole frozen banana (depending on consistency preferences) 1/4 c kombucha (any flavor, I prefer berry or ginger) 1. blend 2. enjoy oneweirdmoon.blogspot.com

TJ - What a great idea to make challah! Boiling the pretzels is what gives them their chewy texture, so the step is a requirement for the desired results. You could try using an extra large pot and boiling one challah at a time. Hope that helps and please be sure to let us know how it turns out :)
T.J. -Dec 13, 2015, 7:36PM
Say, do you have to boil these? I'd like to adapt this to make gf pretzel challah. It would be bigger than these individual pretzels and thus make boiling quite difficult. Thanks in advance! Blessings and shalom!

Post image for Naturally Fermented Homemade Pickles

I’m going to be honest and say that pickles rank very high up on my list of favorite foods.Read More

aleisharaquel -Sep 16, 2014, 1:57PM
My best fall memories as a kid were pickling carrots with my mom and sisters. This year I decided to give it a dry. I made a very similar recipe to this one at home with some large pickling cucumbers and without the whey. The cucumbers are sliced in circles and simply left for a week to "pickle". The taste is so refreshing and the pickles super crunchy. Feeling inspired I also pickles beans from the garden, cutting both sides to allow the pickling mixer to seep in and adding hot peppers, chilli flakes and a squirt of sriracha. Cheers, Aleisha Raquel
