Finally something I can do to make my breakfast even more colourful! Those biscuit sandwiches seem both healthy and delicious, a combination which hardly goes hand by hand.
Claire -Aug 17, 2014, 1:39PM
I just tried this as a breakfast for lunch meal (since i'm too groggy to be cooking in the morning) and it was amazing! My biscuits crumbled a little but that may have been since i let it sit for a while before baking so the butter may have melted some, but besides that it was delicious! I highly recommend trying this recipe :)

Nikki, don't let that reading fool you!!! Every single serious nutritional investigation demonstrate the opposite. Critical heat point of olive oil is 410°F / 210°C!! In fact no other oil can go that high. It's true that has more benefits when raw but if you want to cook, olive oil is the healthier option, just do it with extra virgin olive oil at 375°F / 190°C. There's a tabu about frying with olive oil but: 1st Olive oil do not soak into food as other oils. 2nd It doesn't produce toxic elements, as seed oils. 3rd Olive oil keeps his physical and nutritional properties, you can even reuse it!!! You are looking for a healthy cooking oil?? Then look for a good extra virgin olive oil, specially picual variety.

Nikki - Coconut oil has more saturated fat than olive oil and has more monounsaturated fat which is good for heart health (in moderation of course). According to the Cleveland Clinic olive oil wins against coconut oil as the healthier option. It is a common misconception that coconut oil is healthier. http://health.clevelandclinic.org/2013/10/olive-oil-vs-coconut-oil-which-is-heart-healthier/

Post image for The Only Zucchini Salad Recipe You Need

I’m gonna blow your mind right now: Zucchini is — botanically speaking — a fruit. I’ll let that sink in for a sec … OK, all good? A versatile plant, zucchini lends its fruity side to sweet baked goods, like muffins and bread, but it is most often used in savory dishes since it’s usually treated as a vegetable. And if you haven’t acquainted yourself with this bright green squash, you’re missing out because we just so happen to be in the middle of zucchini season. Read more »

Should softer fruits (i.e. berries, grapes etc) be soaked as well? And if so should they be air dried or dried with paper towels if I wash them and keep them in the fridge?

Post image for The Surprising Benefits Of Stone Fruits

Whether you prefer a peach, its soft, velvety skin warmed by the sun, a few chilled plums eaten messily over the sink, or a bowl of freshly washed vibrant red cherries, now is the time to enjoy stone fruits. Read more »

Fruit may be the ideal food in nature. We may just think of a bird eating a plum or a cherry and so flying away and shitting out the ingested stone somewhere away from the plant that gave that fruit for the possibility of spreading of off-spring out in nature.

Post image for Celebrate Watermelon Day With Agua Fresca

There’s no other fruit that embodies summer quite like the watermelon. A warm-weather essential for gatherings and backyard parties, it seems only fitting that this iconic melon should have its own holiday, and this Sunday is exactly that: National Watermelon Day. You may not get the day off from work, but August 3rd is still a day worth celebrating. Read more »

Post image for Organic vs. Conventional: The Clean Fifteen

Last week, I shared Environmental Working Group’s 2014 Dirty Dozen: a list of the 12 fruits and vegetables that tested highest for pesticide residue – a group that, in my opinion, should really only be consumed if organic. Today I want to shed light on the happier end of the spectrum: EWG’s Clean Fifteen. Read more »

Aw, this was an incredibly nice post. Taking a few minutes and actual effort to produce a top notch article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a whole lot and never seem to get nearly anything done.
