film fix

if you're a fan of jack kerouac, a new documentary came out today called one fast move or i'm gone, which focuses on the phase of kerouac's life chronicled in the novel big sur. one of my favorite jack kerouac books, it is set mostly in a cabin owned by lawrence ferlinghetti in the scenic section of the northern california coast called big sur. kerouac stayed in the cabin for several weeks as he struggled with alcoholism and depression after publishing his famous novel on the road. the documentary tells the stories behind big sur through voice-overs paired with high-def imagery and interviews with people who knew kerouac or were influenced by his work, including ferlinghetti, tom waits and patti smith.

bixby bridge at big sur, which kerouac wrote about in the novel. i was lucky enough to go there and it's incredible.

what is your colorscope?
Susie at Apartment Therapy came across a fun little tool on Paper Source's site: the colorscope!
The colorscope seeks to explain a bit about your personality based on the colors you like the best. Who knows where they came up with the personality traits you supposedly have if you like, say, plum, but it's still really fun!
Here are the ones I picked!

I thought mine were pretty right for the most part, but I'm a sucker for anything that professes to tell me about myself from my palm, or my birthday, etc...
At any rate it was good fun! Check out the colorscope for yourself right here. Does yours fit your personality?

wordle!

Our friend Lisa at Bazaarvoice, (the company that hosts our product reviews for our site,) used this fun generator at Wordle to make the word collage above. She took all of the product reviews on our website from the last few months or so, and entered them in the generator. The more a word was used, the bigger it appears in the image! It's pretty fun! Plus, it made a cool visual of what our reviewers are saying.
Use the generator here to make your own word collages! It would be fun to take all the text on your Facebook profile, for example, and see what words come up the most!

tone matrix
The screenshot below looks pretty unassuming, but I can assure you that those little squares are actually something awesome! The Tone Matrix is a sine wave synthesizer, the key word for us here being sythesizer, as in you make music with it! I can't explain very well how it works or what it does exactly, but if you go play with it you will not be able to stop! Try it! I really think you guys will love this - enjoy!
