This week’s inspiring words come from an artist I have grown fond of. Wes Lang is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work has a haunting dark side, but yet still makes you smile somehow. His controversial work consists of collages of paintings and illustrations, his style is hugely influenced by the employment he had at a tattoo parlor after high school, which is evident in every single piece of his work. As winter sinks in, I normally long for a vacation somewhere warm and tropical…but this year, I’ve got cabins on my mind. Cozy winter cabins that can only be reached by dirt roads, with no electricity and a fireplace to keep me warm. Frosty windowpanes that look out into trees as far as the eye can see, rustic decor, and lots of blankets to wrap myself in…snuggling up with the one I love and a cup of hot chocolate, just enjoying the peace and quiet and beauty of nature. Whenever I feel a little unbalanced I usually blame it on the full moon, because I always find around this time I get emotional, touchy, and aggravated. Many people tell me it’s just a myth, but I’m pretty convinced that the moon’s pull has an impact on my body. Read more »
