Post image for Summer Bucket List: Get An Instant Camera

It’s time to start preparing a summer bucket list, and this year an instant camera is at the top of that list for me.  Instant cameras are the best of both worlds. You get the satisfaction of viewing a photo shortly after you take it, but you still need to put thought into each and every shot. Read more »

Post image for Pretty Pants Are For Lounging

You wake with the sun on a Saturday morning. The windows are open and a warm, light breeze comes through, filling the room with the sweet smell of springtime. The day is yours. Read more »

Sundal- Have you ever had those days where you just want to flit around your house/apartment and maybe no one will see you but that doesn't matter. Sometimes putting on those pants or that shirt you've been dying to wear- makes the day just feel right. I don't think there's anything wrong in wanting that. And obviously FP needs to sell clothes. But I think from the massive amount of posts on this blog, it's pretty obvious that they are selling a lifestyle as well.

Post image for Desert Garden Inspiration From Palm Springs, CA

As soon as we pulled up to our house in Palm Springs last week, one thing that immediately struck me was how beautiful the plant life was – and how different it was to what I’m used to on the East Coast. I’ve always had a thing for desert plants — and I have lots of little potted succulents scattered all around my home — but to see them actually growing from the ground was so cool. There were so many different kinds of cacti… all different shapes and colors; some with flowers, some without. It was all too gorgeous not to share with you all. Read more »

The keys to successful desert landscaping are knowledge and planning. In order to have a lively, functional garden that also has low water and maintenance requirements, you will need to make educated plant and hardscape choices. If you are also looking for a landscaping design ideas, I recommend http://www.coloradogreenlandscaping.com.

Post image for The Beauty Of Star Gazing

“Magic exists. Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars? Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic. It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live.”

~ Nora Roberts

I believe in magic, every time I look at the stars in the sky long enough the feeling of magic runs through me. The longer you stare the more they appear, captivating you more and more second by second. Read more »

loved this post. there are very few things i love more than staring a star-filled sky. it's so incredibly beautiful and makes you realize how small we are in comparison to the universe. i only had to take one science credit in college, so naturally i chose astronomy. one of the best classes i ever had. my cabin in the mountains was the place i first star-gazed, then i went to lake powell in utah..... no towns for miles and miles and miles, just a giant lake surrounded by gorgeous red and orange rock formations and at night, with no moon, pitch black. you could see the milky way like a gray line across the sky. i slept underneath the stars every night because i just wanted to stare at the sky as i fell asleep. unbelievable. haven't seen more shooting stars in my life. i won't ever forget that sight. i've only ever made out the big and little dipper and orion's belt with my own memory, but i have a constellation app that's awesome! goskywatch! it tracks your location, you point it at the sky and it tells you what you're looking at! it even points out planets and other masses besides stars! it's an awesome app to have if you're going on a trip where you know you'll see a ton of stars!

well when i was 15 years old, every night i look up in the sky and got many pictures made by stars. Always tried to find that spoon which is called pole star.

Post image for Trying Reiki: What To Expect

The idea of life energy has always been so intriguing to me. I’ve always believed in the concept of “mind over matter” and that we as humans are capable of doing anything – we just have figure out how to tap into our own energy.

I recently met a Reiki practitioner and was extremely inspired by her positive words and calming presence. Read more »

Hi Mike, Reiki is a spiritual healing practice, similar to meditation, that promotes balance within the body. Reiki is a passive practice that initiates the receiver's own self-healing mechanisms, whereas acupuncture is more directed and involves the practitioner manipulating qi within the receiver's body. The two most commonly reported benefits of a Reiki treatment are reduced anxiety and pain. Here is a helpful resource that includes some points to consider when choosing a Reiki class and teacher: http://reikiinmedicine.org/popular/reiki-classes-right-for-you/ Hope this helps!
Mike -Apr 30, 2013, 1:18PM
Is Reiki a therapy like Acupuncture that can help with pain etc. or is it as i perceive it where someone runs their hands over a person using energy to heal. If this is the case how does one learn such a therapy? regards Mike

gah! i love these rings! rings are my favorite type of accessory to shop for, except it's such a pain! cause i have the thinnest fingers in the world, it's always impossible to find rings that fit! my size teeters between size 4 and size 5, depending what finger, and size 4 and 5 aren't common sizes at all! totally wish i could purchase some of these, but all my favorites are size 6 and 7! :(

Post image for Wanderlust: Travel Essentials

It has become that time of year when people are jet-setting around the world for a vacation, and for me preparing for the on-flight experience is just as important as packing for your vacation. I have always had travel fever. I feel like my mind expands whenever I go to a foreign country and it enriches my outlook on life. I like to think I have a gypsy soul, always wanting to explore new places and cultures.

I have a gypsy soul too. I am so happy I have travelled as much as I have. I ended up finally settling down on the opposite side of the planet to which I was born. I still travel but I finally found a home! I love how FP clothes are the BEST to take when travelling because they are perfect for layering! Layering really is the key to the best travel wardrobe...
