Miann, I saw you on Tara's blog a few months ago and clicked over to your website from there. It was the middle of winter in Australia and I was a mum of four in Newcastle reading about this amazing surfy woman from Noosa. I was in awe of you and I decided that day that I would re-learn (I gave up as a teenager - did the same angsty thing) this summer. I have been psyching myself up since then, and next week we go away to the mid-North coast and I am on it! Then I read this and realised you haven't been surfing since you were a grom. That you also rediscovered your love for the surf as an adult, wow, mind blown. AND even more hope given. Yes to it starting as an intention, yes to it being a feeling that settles my soul! Thank you so much for this post. I know I can do this, and you doing it too gives me a little harder push that it really is going to be okay! x

Post image for When Summer Meets Fall

The sun is low in the sky. The temperature is one of pure comfort; neither hot nor cold. Anticipation is in the air. A shift is coming. You can feel it… but it isn’t here yet. Read more »

Such beautiful photography. I'm very lustful for fall right about now, though. http://negative85.wordpress.com/

This is my favorite time of year. It always seems to slip by too fast, though -- I spent this afternoon trying to soak it all in.

I live by the shore, so the best time to go is in September when all the tourists have left & the roads aren't bumper locked. This is also a great time to enjoy (and or stock) all that summer produce that is ripening up and ready for fall! Almost time to clean up and pack away your summer clothes, and bring out your fall sweaters! Wonderful time to open windows and sleep in that cool air (in lieu of sleeping under the stars)...hey, there's still bugs out there :-) Juliana

Post image for Harvesting Creativity & Overcoming Setbacks

Creativity can be anything from an art piece, to a written work, to a new business idea. What ties the concept together, in all cases, is that it is an outward translation of something within ourselves. We have thoughts and images running through our heads as well as feelings and emotions reverberating through our bodies. Creativity happens when we connect and utilize our talents to communicate what’s inside, breathing it into existence. Of course, that can be easier said than done. Read more »

This is such a well written post with so many wonderful, realistic approaches. I love to write and blog but sometimes I run out of creative juices or feel a little insecure about it all. I love the idea of simply keeping a journal. Getting back to the good old pen and paper!!! We usually find inspiration where we least expect it! Thank you, Audrey

This post couldn't have come at a more perfect time. And I have to agree that going on a walk is always the best first step for me!

Post image for Boho Wedding Inspiration

It’s been a little while since we’ve featured a wedding here on the blog.  But the other day, I got an email from MacK Mars, who works part time as a stylist for Free People.  The photos from her wedding day stopped me dead in my tracks – read on to hear her describe it in her own words, and to get a serious dose of wedding inspiration! Post image for How to Pack The Perfect Carry On Bag

I’ve been traveling since before my memory even serves. Road trips and flights were a regular thing in my family, and for a while, a bag sat at the foot of my bed, always half-packed or half-unpacked, depending on how you looked at it. Read more »

Great ideas mentioned here! For me, lip balm is a must. And I always bring my toothbrush and a zip lock baggie with an old face cloth inside so I can freshen up during long hauls. I really liked the idea of a face spritzer, too! (Would TSA let you bring that on though?)
Eva -Aug 30, 2014, 3:38AM
Great tip! I always bring all of this stuff as well. Seconding what people said in the comments about lip moisturizer. I usually pack one that's in a tin so I can also use it for my hands if I need to. A little spray bottle with water (and maybe conditioner/coconut oil) is helpful to spray your face if you're feeling extra dry. http://magellanandpan.com
