Does anyone know where I could possibly buy a large scarf? I am going to a Marina and the Diamonds concert May 29th and it's in Central Park, NY. I'm assuming since it's outside, that there will be no chairs, and I think having a scarf would be lovely to sit on. If you have any other suggestions on what to bring, it would be a huge help. Thank you!!!!

Post image for American Woman: A Mood Board For Our Latest Trend

I always love the trends that our merchandisers come up with, but every once in a while a trend comes along that hits a special note with me and this week’s “American Woman” is one of them. First of all, there is a definite 70s vibe that instantly appeals to me, and when combined with retro sporty graphics and Americana elements, this is a look I wholeheartedly support. It brings to mind Venice Beach and that cool laid-back LA attitude, the Z-Boys and surf culture. Read more »

Very cool! I am not actually an "American" girl. I am however a "North American" girl. The Guess Who, by the way, were Canadian! https://www.etsy.com/shop/EarthChildArt?ref=si_shop

This is one of my favorite FP catalogues to date! Brigitte Bardot is the most lovely muse for this time of year. I loved her paired with the boats and beachy setting. I want to purchase every single item for my own upcoming beach vaca in Texas!

Post image for Travel Lust: Trancoso, Brazil

A couple of weeks ago I had a dream about Brazil. The exotic senses spun around in my mind for hours and hours. The next day I found this… The Blue Atelier in Trancoso: a quiet, pristine fishing village on an unspoilt stretch of Brazil’s Discovery Coast, a place that seems as if it has resisted the passing of time by staying true to itself. Post image for Color Psychology: The Meaning Of White

Post image for A Day In The Life Of Our Buyers

I followed our buyers around a for a few days in LA while they were on a research trip. They work fast with a good eye and know exactly what to seek out. We met in the morning around 8am in the Chamberlain West Holiday Hotel and then headed out to our destinations; vintage warehouses, vintage stores, high end boutiques, and cool concept stores to get inspired. How do these ladies become buyers? I would LOVE to work with FP one day, its my ultimate DREAM. Do they have a college degree? if so, what do most buyers major in or have experience with? I am currently selling my own handmade jewlery and pieces at a store in Lancaster and I am going to college. I want to take the appropriate steps forward to some day work in the Free People home office and I am totally curious how these girls get these jobs! If you could get back to me that would be wonderful! I sent a letter to the home office a few months ago but I never heard anything back. Thanks SO much! xo Kacey Royer kroyer6060@gmail.com

I"m lucky enough to be in India studying with my teachers now and was here for the long Holi celebration. It's amazing! Everyone is so happy and the divisions between the cast systems relax. My whole head and shoulders were covered in the brightest pink, green, yellow, and blue I've ever seen! You can give money to the kids if you don't want to be covered in holi powder, which the the way to go after one round of washing your holi laundry!
Aasia -Apr 06, 2013, 2:15PM
...its called Gulal, the holi powder. You can make some herbal, chemical free Gulal at home using basic turmeric powder mixed with double quantity of gram flour(to get yellow color), and gram flour(besan) are brilliant beauty masks as well.

Post image for What Do The Seasonal Moons Mean?

When we first posted about our Seasonal Moon Necklaces, we had a lot of requests to post about what each seasonal moon meant. So, with that a mind we thought it would be a good idea to describe to you each one. I have never heard of the seasonal moons before and I had no idea that my month was the “frost moon”. The frost moon is the name of the full moon in November, also know as the Full Beaver Moon, and was known as the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. I enjoy, lead to I discovered exactly what I used to be having a look for. You have ended my 4 day lengthy hunt! God Bless you man. Have a nice day. Bye
Asia -May 06, 2013, 1:55AM
The June moon actually represents the time when the Algonquin tribes found it was time to harvest honey (not strawberries) and yes in a way it does relate to where the term "honeymoon" comes from. Traditionally (like 4000 years ago) honeymoon came into use for the month after a wedding, when the bride's father would give the groom all the mead he wanted. Mead is actually a honey beer, and being so, the Babylon's calendar was a lunar calender, which is based off the moon. They then started to call that month, the 'honey month', which we now have adapted to be honeymoon. I'm a bit of a research buff and like to know what I'm getting into. Unfortunately the symbol doesn't have a clear meaning. I mean the only place I've seen three triangles stacked like that was the Triforce but unless you're a Zelda/Link fan you probably wouldn't get the reference. But like I said, the 11 equilateral triangles depicted in this particular symbol don't hold a historical/traditional meaning by itself.

Sometimes you don't need to find some concrete purpose... sometimes the only purpose is to be happy. In reality, that is all we are truly expected to do in life, attain happiness.
