I’m back from South By Southwest, but I think a part of me is still in Austin. Every time I go I fall more in love with the city, and even though it’s a little bit chaotic during SXSW it’s an amazing experience. I spent three days taking one of our Heart Strings guitars from place, getting it signed by musicians (more on that tomorrow), all the while making some awesome new friends and hearing some incredible live music. Great photo diary. It makes me want to be there. Doing a fashion editorial at the yours truly house would have been super cool. You should do a shoot with the guitars you are raising money with. Get some amazing girl musicians for it w/ FP clothes. Or could be models like the Duran Duran video w/ Cindy Crawford & supermodels of the 90's.

Traveling is an eye opening and enlightening experience, and such a journey cannot be complete without an equally amazing soundtrack. One of my favorite travel experiences was on a bus going from France to Amsterdam, and I remember spending the entire trip staring out the window at the sprawling landscape dotted with quaint towns, listening to mixtapes and albums that to this day when I hear, take me back to that bus ride. It seems like music has been taking over my life lately, and I’m totally ok with it. Music is pretty much always playing in the back of my mind, a constant presence, maybe just turned down to a quieter volume at times, but lately it is blasting into my ear drums and I can’t seem to satisfy my hunger for more. I took a long lunch break today and hopped on over to WXPN to catch Sharon Van Etten playing the Free at Noon show. These shows are one of my absolute favorite things about XPN; they take place every Friday and feature some really amazing artists – for free. I mean, how can you not take advantage of that? Sunday the 22nd of January we went to Johnny Brenda’s – a charismatic bar, restaurant and music venue that has a strong presence mainly to do with the amount of awesome bands that sail through there, one being Twin Sister who we managed to catch up with while they sound checked and nibbled on Whiskey doughnuts. In my memory of the night it was raining – although – I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t. I left work late at night with a boat load of stuff: clothes, a dog carrier, backpack, camera bag… quickly stopping at home to pop a pita in my mouth and twirl my hair into a bun. Read more »
