Post image for Halloween Mixtape Contest!

I love the mood of Halloween… there’s a mysterious quality to late October evenings, a hint of magic that hangs in the air.  Music helps to set the mood, through its rhythm and lyrics that get your heart racing and cause your hairs to raise ever so slightly.  As part of our 7 days of blog giveaways, we figured it was about time for another mixtape contest!Read More

Post image for Edward Sharpe’s Big Top Festival

I haven’t been to a circus since the tender age of 7.

While time has gone on, and I’ve grown older, this one and only experience will never leave me a stranger to the smells, sights, or sounds of such a place. The distinguished character that oozes out of such a magical land does not fall prey to forgetting. Read More

Totally copy-and-pasting this around to all the FB bloggers, in hopes of a reply! I have a question I’ve been meaning to ask the FP blogger (or anyone else who’d like to help me out), I love the style of photography you all have, and am just wondering what cameras you all use? I’m hoping to get a proper camera, and love the arty side of photography, but am hopeless at understanding the technological side. If you could let me know, I’d be so grateful. (If your sugesstions turn out to fit my price range I’d be even more grateful!!)

Post image for When Music Takes You Back

Have you ever had a time when your ears caught a piece of a song and immediately you’re swept away to an experience in your past? The time, the place, the faces… the sights, the smells, the feeling. Music has an incredible power to take us back; to allow our minds to revisit a deep memory that we may not have thought about in quite some time. I’ve always found this to be such a magical thing, and I was curious to discover the songs, bands, and experiences that are forever linked in the minds of others… so I turned to five girls right here in our home office.Read More

I too love this experience. It can be a very bittersweet emotion when it overcomes you but i embrace it fully. I have so many songs that take me back. I cried at a Shins show once when James Mercer began singing New Slang because it brought me back. The strongest musical connection I have though is with Death Cab for Cutie's album "Plans". Any of those songs play and I'm mentally transported to my beat up '92 Nissan convertible with the top down and I'm driving too fast down the back roads on my way home from a night with my friends and the first boy who made me say "I love you". I was 16 and alive and free.

The one song that always takes me back to one of the best summers I've ever had, the summer of just having graduated high school, is the song 'Sea Legs' by The Shins. I was driving in my little, white Ford Ranger with the windows down to go see my boyfriend at the time. I was going over the bridge that connects my city to the next and as I was crossing over it, ‘Sea Legs’ started playing. It was perfect. I was wearing my favorite sundress, the sun was shining, and boats were sailing by, my hair long and blonde blowing in the wind. I can still feel the warmth of the summer heat and the sun's rays kissing my skin just thinking about it.

Post image for New Music Video We Love: Wild Belle “Another Girl”

Remember when music videos were a huge thing? Every time an artist released a single there would be a video to accompany it, giving you even more insight into the artist’s artistic vision. I can remember tuning in to MTV to watch music video premieres, full of anticipation.  These days artists do still make videos, but it’s no longer a “requirement,” and it’s rare that I see something that makes me actually want to sit and watch all the way through.  Leave it to Wild Belle to come along and make something so cool and beautiful that not only can I not look away, I can’t stop watching. Read More

Post image for Cornwall Road Trip: A Night of Music At Cafe Irie

Cafe Irie lives in the heart of Newquay, close to the beach and neighboring specialty Cornish shops. Inside, the ceilings hang low over vintage couches, giving it that cozy cafe vibe. The crew and I have determined that this was probably our favorite spot to eat over the course of our stay in Newquay.Read More
