Once again I’ve returned from a music festival with a whole new list of music to check out! Unfortunately most of these are artists I missed at Coachella, and later regretted missing after hearing people rave about their shows! Either way, these acts are filling my ears with new and different sounds and I can’t stop listening. Read more »
One of the best things about music festivals is always the new musical discoveries that you make. One of mine from SXSW was the California-based band IO Echo, which consists of Ioanna Gika and Leopold Ross. Their music is dark and melodic, but also airy and light – a contradiction you don’t often find in music. Read more »
We’re still recovering from Coachella but that doesn’t mean we aren’t already thinking about the next festivals! Coming up are Sasquatch, Bonnaroo, Pitchfork, and one of my all-time favorites, Outside Lands! The lineup for this year’s Coachella was pretty incredible, and one of the hardest things about being at a festival is not being able to see every band you want to see. Sometimes just going with the flow is the best approach, and some of the bands you didn’t plan on seeing end up being your favorite shows. Read more »

While in Austin for SXSW I caught up with the band Houses, whose 2010 album All Night was one of my most-played last year when I discovered it. The band consists of adorable duo Dexter Tortoriello and Megan Messina, who are probably two of the sweetest, most down to earth musicians I’ve met. Read more »

As much as you can attempt to prepare for SXSW, once you are there it’s like being dropped in a pinball machine – bouncing around from place to place with very little control. The music festival has grown immensely each year, meaning not only more shows to see but more people to fill up the venues. Read more »
