The playlist posts are some of my favorite posts on BLDG so its a wicked bummer to see that not as many people contributed to this one! So here's a nice handful of tunes to make up for those who didn't post!! Light a candle or two and enjoy on a snowy day! Mountain Man - "Animal Tracks" Doc Watson, Clarence White - "Footprints in the Snow" Simon & Garfunkle- "A Hazy Shade of Winter" Beirut- "Postcards From Italy" & "Elephant Gun" Horse Theif - "Little Dust" The Velvet Underground, "Who Loves the Sun" Belle & Sebastian, "Winter Wooskie" Camera Obscura "I Missed Your Party" Frank Sinatra- "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!" Edith Piaf - "La Vie En Rose" Duke Ellington & His Orchestra - "Moon Mist" & "Just A-Sittin' And A-Rockin'" & "Blue Is The Night" The Dutchess & The Duke " Hands" & "Reservoir Park" Milky Chance "Fairytale" The Lovetones- "Wintertime in Hollywood" Allah-Las- "Busman's Holiday" Counting Crows - "A Long December" Cotton Jones- "By Morning Light" & "Gone The Bells" The Kinks, "Holiday" & "Father Christmas" Charlotte Gainsbourg -"Heaven Can Wait" Mazzy Star - "Halah" Springtime Carnivore (whole self-titled album is amazing!!) "Name on a Matchbook" &"Collectors" &"Other Side of the Boundary" Walkmen (Album You& Me is one of my favorites) "Red Moon" & "In the New Year" &"On the Water" &"Donde Esta la Playa" Norah Jones' album "The Fall" - "Stuck" & "Tell Yer Mama" & "Back to Manhattan"

I love Jess Lee's tip about having hot chocolate and marshmallows on hand for Black Friday staff! I've worked a few Black Fridays in my day and if I didn't have something sweet nearby to snack on I would've gone absolutely mad! xoxo Sara restlessnomads.com

Post image for Backyard Sessions: Quiet Life

Last month, a group of us gathered in the beautiful backyard of one of our graphic designers for an impromptu backyard session with Quiet Life.  The band was in town working on their upcoming album, and we squeezed in the session right before they left town to go on tour.  It was a perfect summer night – good people, good music, and late night rides in the back of a pickup truck. Post image for Outside Lands 2014 Music Highlights

Music festivals are not always the best venue to fully experience music.  With so many people in one place, the crowd can be overwhelming, and if the artist doesn’t have the right stage presence, they aren’t able to fully captivate the audience and the performance can fall flat.  I definitely did not get to see all of the bands I wanted to see at Outside Lands, but I was able to catch a few performances that really stood out. Here are some of my highlights from Outside Lands 2014! Read more »
