Post image for New (And Old) Music We Love

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared some new music I’ve been listening to, so I have lots of ear candy for you today! First and foremost, though, I have to acknowledge the recent passing of a musical legend, Lou Reed. He was a man unafraid to push boundaries and explore the darker side of life, and he left behind a legacy — both in his solo work and his work with the Velvet Underground — that will play on in our hearts and souls forever. Post image for Festival Fashion At Treasure Island

Treasure Island.
The last hoorah of Festivals for the 2013 year…. Right? Yes. I think so…
In the scheme of things, Treasure Island is quite quaint. Only two stages rise above the crowds, with a backdrop of San Francisco’s glorified cityscape behind it. There is no view that isn’t pleasing: sit, stand… lay… it’s all good. You’ll hear and see all that you want. Here, only one stage plays at a time, and no matter your placement in this small, intimate setting, the sound resonates and finds you. Read more »

music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, sometimes also including music of the baroque and early classical periods Absolutely amazing, we can not be more thankful for all the music we have played for and all the people we have met throughout our whole journey of playing. Music News

Post image for Edward Sharpe’s Big Top Festival

I haven’t been to a circus since the tender age of 7.

While time has gone on, and I’ve grown older, this one and only experience will never leave me a stranger to the smells, sights, or sounds of such a place. The distinguished character that oozes out of such a magical land does not fall prey to forgetting. Read more »

Totally copy-and-pasting this around to all the FB bloggers, in hopes of a reply! I have a question I’ve been meaning to ask the FP blogger (or anyone else who’d like to help me out), I love the style of photography you all have, and am just wondering what cameras you all use? I’m hoping to get a proper camera, and love the arty side of photography, but am hopeless at understanding the technological side. If you could let me know, I’d be so grateful. (If your sugesstions turn out to fit my price range I’d be even more grateful!!)

Post image for When Music Takes You Back

Have you ever had a time when your ears caught a piece of a song and immediately you’re swept away to an experience in your past? The time, the place, the faces… the sights, the smells, the feeling. Music has an incredible power to take us back; to allow our minds to revisit a deep memory that we may not have thought about in quite some time. I’ve always found this to be such a magical thing, and I was curious to discover the songs, bands, and experiences that are forever linked in the minds of others… so I turned to five girls right here in our home office. I too love this experience. It can be a very bittersweet emotion when it overcomes you but i embrace it fully. I have so many songs that take me back. I cried at a Shins show once when James Mercer began singing New Slang because it brought me back. The strongest musical connection I have though is with Death Cab for Cutie's album "Plans". Any of those songs play and I'm mentally transported to my beat up '92 Nissan convertible with the top down and I'm driving too fast down the back roads on my way home from a night with my friends and the first boy who made me say "I love you". I was 16 and alive and free.

The one song that always takes me back to one of the best summers I've ever had, the summer of just having graduated high school, is the song 'Sea Legs' by The Shins. I was driving in my little, white Ford Ranger with the windows down to go see my boyfriend at the time. I was going over the bridge that connects my city to the next and as I was crossing over it, ‘Sea Legs’ started playing. It was perfect. I was wearing my favorite sundress, the sun was shining, and boats were sailing by, my hair long and blonde blowing in the wind. I can still feel the warmth of the summer heat and the sun's rays kissing my skin just thinking about it.

Post image for New Music Video We Love: Wild Belle “Another Girl”

Remember when music videos were a huge thing? Every time an artist released a single there would be a video to accompany it, giving you even more insight into the artist’s artistic vision. I can remember tuning in to MTV to watch music video premieres, full of anticipation.  These days artists do still make videos, but it’s no longer a “requirement,” and it’s rare that I see something that makes me actually want to sit and watch all the way through.  Leave it to Wild Belle to come along and make something so cool and beautiful that not only can I not look away, I can’t stop watching.  Read more »
