Post image for Cornwall Road Trip: A Night of Music At Cafe Irie

Cafe Irie lives in the heart of Newquay, close to the beach and neighboring specialty Cornish shops. Inside, the ceilings hang low over vintage couches, giving it that cozy cafe vibe. The crew and I have determined that this was probably our favorite spot to eat over the course of our stay in Newquay. Read more »

It is a great place where I can to eat in my next visit England. But unfortunately I've never been in this fort city.

Post image for New Music We Love

It seems like this time of year is always a good time for new music… today I have a couple albums to share with you that I can’t stop listening to! The first comes from one of the artists we featured in this post, Thao and the Get Down Stay Down. This isn’t a new release, but it is one that I didn’t really start listening to until more recently – and now I can’t stop.  Read more »

Love their style, love the questions and responses, love the photography! Makes me want to try on their clothes and makeup, look young, sensuous and free, and soak up that peaceful easiness about the woman I've become. Love it!

Post image for Musical Highlights From Outside Lands Festival

There were so many amazing shows at Outside Lands this year, from up-and-coming acts to legendary performers.  Paul McCartney played an incredible set that included many Beatles favorites, making not being at the festival an even tougher pill to swallow.  Some of our other favorites who played this year are Wild Belle, The National, Band of Horses, and The Head and The Heart — here are some photos of the musical highlights from the weekend! I saw The Head and the Heart and Wild Belle at the Osheaga music festival in Montreal, it was one of the best experiences of my life!

Post image for Our Fall Playlist: Contribute!

There’s a feeling that fall evokes unlike any other season. The crisp air brings about a feeling of freshness; of a new start. It’s a feeling filled with a little bit of wonder and mystery, too. I love fall dressing because the color palettes become a little darker and moodier, and outfits become more interesting with lots of layers.

Over the past few weeks, whenever I’ve heard a song that seemed to have that same fall vibe, I added it to a playlist I called “Falling”.

I would love if you guys started making Spotify playlists! They're free for anyone to listen to the whole songs and can post easily in a format like the Rdio one. Only Rdio's a pain since I'm already logged in and it still only plays 30 sec snippets -_-

Post image for An Interview With Jade & Nora Of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

A couple of weeks ago when I attended the XPoNential Music Festival, I had the opportunity to interview Jade Castrinos and Nora Kirkpatrick of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. It was such an honor to talk to these two talented ladies, and they are both so incredibly sweet and fun to be around. Alex Ebert popped over at the end of the interview too, just in time to answer my last question and snap a photo of me with Jade and Nora. Read on for the interview and some more photos from their show that night! Read more »

I first heard them and Home on an advert in the UK . I found the video of the tune on You Tube. It has a good rocking sound and Jade looks full of fun on the video (and the live one on Letterman where her hat falls off, followed by her coat which she seemed about to fall over). The whole thing exudes fun and a group enjoying themselves. I am 77 and have been listening to good music since the 1940s. To the background sound of Hitler's Luftwaffe trying to bomb us into extinction.

I went all days and it was amazing! By far my favorite music festival featuring local artists, as well as some bigger named musicians! I loved the meet and greet with all of the performers, too!

Carol Summer -Sep 04, 2013, 10:12AM
It. Was. Awesome. Originally, I went there because of Bjork (I love her since I was 14 and I have never seen her live gigs before, just couldn’t miss this one!) and my friend also told me that Bat For Lashes is gonna be there (don’t know why on Earth he thought so but I was excited to see the guys there. And yep, for those who don’t know http://blablamp3.com/mp3/bat-for-lashes.html ). Okay, they weren’t there but the rest of the bands were amazing. Sorry for all the folks who couldn’t make it and come to see the bands and hooray for me!
