Post image for The Green Way to Spring Clean

I love the idea of spring cleaning. A time to open the windows, dust off winter, and shake out the chill. Read more »

Green is always the best way of doing cleaning related stuff. Baking soda IMO is something that can help in almost everything that must be cleaned. It's clearly "magical". Thanks for the great post and all the help you provide with it :) I already shared it with some of my friends.

i used mixtures like this for years - and then realized it is not safe to use on marble or even tile surfaces. The vinegar eats the grout pretty quickly. I opt for natural cleaning products sold by reputable names - there are so many out there now :)

Essential oils can be intimidating at first and even a little pricey. How would you recommend getting started/easing into the world of essential oils in the beauty routine? What oils will provide a good base for future projects and are fundamental for any collection? I'd love to see this broken down and your advice for how to get started.
Melissa -Apr 20, 2015, 9:11PM
Totally going to do this! I've been really into using natural products lately. I swapped out lotion for coconut oil already and have been looking for other natural remedies to bring into my beauty routine.

Those of you who are in the Southwest should look into Stardust Building Supply. It's a nonprofit that has 3 thrift stores in the Metro Phoenix area. The organization's goal is pretty great, too- make home renovation affordable and keep building supplies out of our landfills.

I try really hard to unplug on a daily basis. Although it's not always easy, I find that meditating for at least ten minutes helps to clear my chattery mind!
Kit -Apr 15, 2015, 2:30PM
While, it's something I still find difficult, what with my type-A personality, I find a quick drive out to the beach or the Everglades a good way to unplug and focus on the sounds of life all around that doesn't need batteries. When I have a weekend, I'll head down to Key West and soak in the unhurried atmosphere. I also travel a lot, so having favorite music, headphones, and my sketchbook on hand can help me unwind even in the busiest airports. I love that sheer blue skirt/dress in the 7th and 9ths photos (worn with the black jacket) what is that piece?
