Post image for How To Properly Store Your Summer Clothes

I have dreams of one day having a Clueless-level closet. The size of a small trailer, I’d showcase my clothes from all seasons and a computer system would tell me what to wear. Unfortunately I’m dealing with exactly the opposite. Read more »

Great advice and the well thought out steps to getting the job done. Perfect time to weed out the unwanted and donate to those less fortunate. Thanks for the tips.

Great ideas! I also never thought of stacking heaviest on bottom and lightest on top. My Dad built a cedar closet in out basement for seasonal clothes storage. I don't have a basement so the garage is my spot. Plastic bins work well for my clothes.

Occasionally I like to paint my nails bright Barbie pink, and that's usually where it ends. However, I could really see myself rocking that last look.

Lovely! Metallics are so great because they're versatile for casual or formal - and every season. The gold leaf detail would be beautiful on a maroon mani. Warm Regards, Alexandra www.littlewildheart.com

Love this. I'd enjoy seeing a post about the color oxblood (always makes me dream of fall) or of how to wear knee-high socks - I have a ton of them but for some reason feel a little uninspired about how to work them into my everyday wardrobe right now xoxo Sara http://www.restlessnomads.com

Post image for Backyard Sessions: Quiet Life

Last month, a group of us gathered in the beautiful backyard of one of our graphic designers for an impromptu backyard session with Quiet Life.  The band was in town working on their upcoming album, and we squeezed in the session right before they left town to go on tour.  It was a perfect summer night – good people, good music, and late night rides in the back of a pickup truck. Post image for Natural Tips For Curly Hair

Curly hair is a beautiful thing. A beautiful thing that can sometimes have a mind of its own. Read more »

Emme -Oct 17, 2014, 12:49PM
First, and foremost, find a hairstylist that will cut your hair dry! There's no point using all the right products if your hair has not been shaped properly. Personally, I go to someone who has been trained in the Deva method. I've also heard good things about Ouidad stylists. Second, I agree with those who say that no one method will work for everyone. You have to experiment with products and methods to find the ones that are best for you. Example, everyone raves about coconut oil, and while my skin loves it, it doesn't do a damn thing for my hair. My best oil seems to be olive oil. I mix up a batch of olive oil and different essential oils, heat it in the microwave, and leave it in my hair for at least an hour once a week. Except for when I do a hot oil treatment, I only co-wash with a conditioner, use another heavier conditioner for conditioning, and then use a leave-in conditioner/detangler. When I do shampoo, it's sulfate-free, and I never use anything in my hair that contains silicones. I never brush my hair, I only comb it in the shower when it has lots of conditioner in it. (My hair tangles like crazy.) Like I said, experiment and have fun with it! Check out the "Curly Girl Method" book, the "Naturally Curly" website, or go to Youtube and check out all the videos. Find what works best for you.
Keo -Oct 15, 2014, 12:19PM
I've read a lot of articles and posts about how to handle naturally curly hair and I've found that the best thing to do is to keep experimenting. You'll never know what works best for your hair until you've actually tried some of these methods. I recently started drying my hair upside down with a diffuser which has made a big difference in the shape of my curls. They are lighter and bouncier since they haven't been weighed down by water/gravity. I would love to let my hair air dry but I find that the curl doesn't form as well. The tshirt trick has worked like a charm. But if I use any sort of leave-in conditioner or oil, it works against my curls. No one set of rules will apply to all unruly hair. Don't give up and keep playing with different tricks and tips to see what works for you!
