Post image for Honey Is The New Shampoo: The Conclusion

I haven’t washed my hair with conventional shampoo and conditioner for almost one full month — and this will be my last week reporting on it. Why? Did I give up? Am I switching back to the (unnatural) way things used to be? Read more »

I am just now reading this post, so sorry for a late comment! I just wanted to ask.... Do you think you would be having such great results if you hadn't used the honey-water shampoo? What if you had never used that and instead used the Castille soap and Avacado Oil all the way through? I'm really considering doing this and would love an update on how your hair is doing now... unless you have another post? Thanks! I would really appreciate it!

Hi there! I loved reading about your experience, thank you for sharing. I am on day 1 of honey water washing, and feeling reasonably good about the results - I waited 5 days before honey washing for the first time (eeep) so my hair was very greasy indeed. Psychologically I think that was helpful, as even though it doesn't feel as "clean" as it would have after commercial shampoo, it's still a heck of a lot cleaner than it was! I have a question, though... What do all you no-poo / natural-poo ladies do when you go to the hairdresser? I usually love my shampoo and head massage, but I don't want to be punted straight back into transition every time I go for a haircut. What do you guys do? I'm guessing taking my own little bottle of honey water with me might raise some eyebrows... ;-) I only manage a trip to the hairdresser once every 4-6 months, would a commercial shampoo & condition send me right back to the beginning, or is it something my hair will cope with once it's balanced itself out? Thanks for your help!

Post image for Battle Of The Milks: Which Should You Actually Be Drinking?

This guest post comes from contributor FP Naomi. Read more »

From a Bio-Chemistry perspective saturated fats ("fatty acid tails" people) are the second best for us. The best "fat" would be unsaturated... However it does not exist in milk form so it's kind of pointless. I love this post though!!
jessi -Feb 13, 2014, 3:42PM
i completely agree with emma, not all fats are bad for you. that's like saying not to eat avocados..theyre pure fat but the good kind of fat. the fat in dairy milk provides you with nutrients you need. I'm not a big milk drinking because its always given me stomach aches but I always keep a carton of organic milk in my fridge. dairy milk is NOT unhealthy and you shouldn't promote it as unhealthy. if youre drinking whole milk every day then yes that can be unhealthy but drinking non fat organic milk is perfectly fine.

Post image for Love Mixtape Contest

When it comes to love and romance, few things can set the mood better than a song.  For me, music is always tied to certain moments, and it doesn’t necessarily need to be a love song for it to convey the sense of emotion and power that comes with love.  To celebrate the approach of Valentine’s Day and all things love, we’ve decided to hold another mixtape contest! This one around the theme of love, of course :). Read more »
