Post image for Halloween Mixtape Contest!

I love the mood of Halloween… there’s a mysterious quality to late October evenings, a hint of magic that hangs in the air.  Music helps to set the mood, through its rhythm and lyrics that get your heart racing and cause your hairs to raise ever so slightly.  As part of our 7 days of blog giveaways, we figured it was about time for another mixtape contest! Post image for Geo Sport Nail Art

I always love trying to come up with nail art to correspond with our trends, and with Geo Sport I instantly knew what I wanted to do.  Black and white is a classic combination, and it looks striking on the nails.  I love the idea of wearing this with an all black look.  The best part is how easy it is — all you need is some white nail polish and a black nail art pen! Post image for How (& Why) To Cook Your Own Beans

Beans and other legumes are awesome. There are so many different types and so many different ways to incorporate them in meals that it’s almost impossible to get sick of them. Lentil soup, bean salad, and don’t even get me started on hummus. I always used to graze over the dry beans section of the food store and go straight for the canned. I had no idea how to cook dry beans — and canned just seemed like an easier option – but it turns out that it’s actually really simple to cook your own beans, and there are benefits to doing this, too. Hi, thanks for writing this great post! My first batch of homemade black beans is currently soaking, and I'm wondering if the beans need to be refrigerated while they soak or if they can sit on the counter?
meg -Oct 23, 2013, 12:25PM
if you cook beans with kombu/kelp in the water it helps your body absorb the nutrients they have to offer.

Post image for Edward Sharpe’s Big Top Festival

I haven’t been to a circus since the tender age of 7.

While time has gone on, and I’ve grown older, this one and only experience will never leave me a stranger to the smells, sights, or sounds of such a place. The distinguished character that oozes out of such a magical land does not fall prey to forgetting. Read more »

Totally copy-and-pasting this around to all the FB bloggers, in hopes of a reply! I have a question I’ve been meaning to ask the FP blogger (or anyone else who’d like to help me out), I love the style of photography you all have, and am just wondering what cameras you all use? I’m hoping to get a proper camera, and love the arty side of photography, but am hopeless at understanding the technological side. If you could let me know, I’d be so grateful. (If your sugesstions turn out to fit my price range I’d be even more grateful!!)

these are beautiful! I made them for my mom on Mothers Day and she absolutely LOVED them the only problem was that after a few days the color of the flowers started changing colors and now the stunning purple of the lavender has become a yellow color, so I'm going to try to make them again today and see if I can improve the result.
